The Philadelphia Eagles have made a minor roster move prior to the start of training camp. The team announced the release of defensive tackle Derrick Lott.
Lott, 25, signed with the Eagles two months ago in late May. He participated in some OTA practices and mandatory minicamp.
The release of Lott is at least a little interesting because now the Eagles have two vacant roster spots. Are the Eagles freeing up a spot for veteran linebacker Stephen Tulloch? And/or are they planning to sign one or two of the six players who went unpicked in the 2016 NFL Supplemental Draft? Surely the suspense is killing me.
One would imagine the Eagles would like to fill their roster spots soon. Rookies, quarterbacks, and select veterans are scheduled to report for Eagles training camp on Monday, July 25. Then the rest of the team will report to Philadelphia by Wednesday, July 27. It can't come soon enough.
