While some thought that Eagles quarterback Nick Foles could be joining LeSean McCoy in Buffalo, that now appears to be off the table. The Bills have traded an undisclosed draft pick for Vikings quarterback Matt Cassel, according to the team.
The move comes less than 24 hours after the Bills traded Kiko Alonso to Philadelphia for McCoy. Buffalo head coach Rex Ryan and general manager Doug Whaley are clearly being aggressive this offseason, much to the Eagles advantage. Foles would have likely fetched more than whatever the Bills gave up for Cassel, but it wouldn't be surprising to eventually learn that the polarizing Philadelphia passer was discussed during the McCoy-Alonso dealings.
As many have speculated, Chip Kelly appears to be "cleaning house" of Andy Reid-Howie Roseman guys. Foles fits under that umbrella, especially with the Marcus Mariota trade rumors making tidal waves at this point. Still, we can rule out a deal with Buffalo and perhaps, thank them for setting the trade market for a quarterback.
