The Philadelphia Eagles released veteran wide receiver Miles Austin, according to a report from Howard Eskin. Interestingly enough, Eskin also reports Chip Kelly was facing pressure to cut the much-maligned receiver.
Same sources tell me Chip Kelly was getting some pressure from within to cut Miles Austin and #Eagles finally did it. @FOX29philly

This move hardly comes as a surprise. The team made Austin a healthy scratch in Philadelphia's game against the New England Patriots on Sunday. The Eagles activated former practice squad receiver Jonathan Krause in his place.
The Eagles signed Austin to a one-year contract worth $2.3 million earlier this offseason. The deal included $1 million guaranteed, for some reason. It's safe to say signing Austin was a mistake. He's been terrible for the Eagles. Austin recorded 13 receptions on 31 targets for 224 yards and one touchdown. He dropped at least three passes.
No word yet on what the Eagles will do to fill their open roster spot.
UPDATE: Eagles confirm Austin's release.
