10 things we learned from the Eagles' loss - BGN
The Eagles aren't good. Through four games this season, they just haven't shown enough to inspire any real confidence. The Birds are 1-3 overall: 0-2 in the division and 0-3 in the conference. The season isn't officially over by any means but it's unlikely they will make the playoffs at this point. There are just too many issues with this squad right now.
Anger reigns as Eagles' season unravels - Daily News
Said Kelce: "Right now, we don't run the ball when we need to, we don't pass block when we need to, and it's a disgrace. We got some big runs and some big passes, but other than that, we didn't have a consistent offense today, and we haven't had one (this season). "We've lacked complete consistency on the offensive side of the ball, and it all starts up front . . . All I'm worried about right now is getting the offensive line fixed . . . We've got to pass block better, we've got to run block better, we've got to communicate better. There's just way too many mistakes, too many errors, especially at this point in the season. We're costing our team wins right now, I think. We've got to get this fixed. We should have had it fixed yesterday. We should have had it fixed right from the beginning. It's very frustrating right now."
Handing out 10 awards from the Eagles-Redskins game - PhillyVoice
When the 2015 season began, 11 teams had started at least four different QBs in Week 1 over the last seven years. They were the Rams, Bills, Buccaneers, Redskins, Jaguars, Titans, Vikings, Browns, Raiders, Cardinals, and Eagles. The combined number of playoff wins those teams have since 2010? Zero. The Eagles started their fifth in seven years Week 1 when they started Sam Bradford. Bradford's numbers were good against the Redskins, but they were misleading. He made three very good deep throws, but was otherwise erratic, and did not pass the eye test. Philly may be starting QB #6 in eight years in 2016.
Big Picture Talk - Iggles Blitz
The first question is whether Chip Kelly is on the hot seat. No. Modern society tends to live in the moment. Sometimes perspective can be valuable. Kelly went 10-6 each of his first two years. He’s off to a slow start this year, but that doesn’t dismiss what he’s done up to this point. Kelly has a lot of critics right now. Some are people that have hated him since day one, while others are just jumping on the bandwagon. They will put him on hot seat lists, but that is media talk and not reality. Jeff Lurie isn’t the type of owner to make rash decisions. He will let the season play out.
Chip Kelly: ‘We Can’t Delay the Season’ - Birds 24/7
Chip Kelly didn’t sound concerned after the Eagles’ 23-20 loss to Washington on Sunday, but he did attribute his team’s struggles to execution, specifically mentioning dropped passes. "They play with great effort, but I don’t think we are executing," he said. "We had a couple of key drops in the fourth quarter. We get those drops, [it] changes the game. "We’ve got to make plays. We can’t delay the season. We’re not making plays right now."
Caleb Sturgis' misses critical in Eagles' loss to Redskins - CSN Philly
Second-year pro Cody Parkey, out for the rest of the season with a groin injury, missed the first three. Parkey's replacement, third-year pro Caleb Sturgis, was responsible for the latest shanks. "I just came out there and I missed a few," Sturgis said. "It hurt the team. Gotta keep your head up and keep going out there for the next ones."
Slow Start, Poor Finish Doom Eagles - PE.com
Despite it all -- the poor start, the missed field goal and then PAT by the new kicker, a defense that had trouble getting off the field on third down combined with a spate of injuries, the Eagles had control of the football game at a time when the team needed to put it away.
