Not another mock offseason version 2

Well, here we are again. We as a fanbase have nothing better to do than to speculate, and boy are we good at it. So let's get to more of that speculating.

A few weeks ago, I put out another one of these. You can see my thoughts here. But looking back at it, I realized how crappy some of my choices were and decided to put out another mock offseason. I'm also going to try my best to watch the numbers and will assume a salary cap of $141 million.

CUTS:

-James Casey: Just not worth paying a 3rd TE $4 million, especially when he has only caught 6 passes in the past 2 years.

-Cary Williams: Do I really need to explain this? Better than the common opinion, but extremely undisciplined and not worth it at $8 million.

-Todd Herremans: Sorry, but I think it's time to move on from the Toddfather. He's in decline and his $5.2 million salary is too much for the talent he still has left.

RESTRUCTURING:

-Trent Cole: I believe him when he says he wants to stay. And he is still a quality player. My guess is that we won't be able to keep Graham, so he needs to be kept if that happens. Cole gets restructured to a deal that gives him $4.5 million a year.

-DeMeco Ryans: The ILBs filled in admirably when he was injured, but he is a leader and the QB of the D. Restructured to a deal that gives him $3.5 million a year.

RESIGNING:

-Jeremy Maclin: Needs to be resigned. Give him the money he deserves. 5 years, $51 million.

-Cedric Thornton: Most underrated player on the team. RFA, so under team control for at least a year. But I see us locking him up longer term. I go with a 3 year, $12 million contract with some incentives.

-Chris Polk: Good goal line back, but underutilized. RFA, so I say give him a low level tender worth $1.431 million

-Casey Matthews: Good depth player. Filled in admirably for Ryans. Gets more hate than he deserves. 2 year, $2.4 million.

NOT RETAINED:

Graham moves on to a team with a need at 4-3 DE. Allen and Fletcher need to leave now. Smith and Maehl can be replaced.

FREE AGENCY:

-Byron Maxwell: This guy has been talked about by this fanbase since the season ended. If he hits the free market, we need to be all over him. Sign him to a 4 year, $25 million contract.

-Jake Locker: Can't stay healthy, reclamation project. Give him a Sanchez-like deal at 1 year, $2 million.

-Da'Norris Searcy: Good season, got 3 INTs. Only 26 years old, very athletic and fast. 4 years, $14.8 million.

DRAFT:

Currently, we have all of our picks plus SF's 4th from the Bryce Brown trade.

1st round: TRADE. Kelly doesn't decide to trade up for Mariota like many want. Instead, he will trade down to the late 20s and pick up 2 3rd round picks (1 this year and 1 next). With that new pick, the Eagles will select: Eric Kendricks, ILB UCLA. Put Eric and Mychal together and watch the world explode. Eric is described as being a lot like his brother, and if that is true than we are in luck.

2nd round: ANOTHER TRADE. This time, we trade up to around 40 giving up this year's 3rd we got in the Kendricks trade. With that move up, we select: PJ Williams, CB Florida State. Fast and very physical with good size. Has been known to be a little overaggressive at times, but with some coaching could be a good find in the 2nd.

3rd round: Tre' Jackson, OG, Florida State. Athletic yet powerful guard, replacement for Herremans.

4th (from SF via BUF): Jake Ryan, OLB, Michigan. Mid round steal right here. Versatile player that is very smart, could have been a 2nd rounder had he not had an ACL tear in the past.

4th round: Stefon Diggs, WR, Maryland. A guy that is extremely fast and an overall great athlete. Injury probably dropped him a round or two. Valuable on ST as well. Brings a deep threat and home run hitter type of player back. Almost like a Jackson clone, only I think that Diggs has the potential to be a better athlete than DeSean if he applies himself.

5th round: Josh Shaw, CB, USC. He might not have saved his nephew from drowning, but he could save our depth at DB. Tall, a sure tackler, and very smart, Shaw is a guy that could have gone in the top couple of rounds had he not made up that story on how he broke his leg. Mid round steal.

6th round: Tyrus Thompson, OT, Oklahoma. Good in both pass and run protection, a good athlete given his tree trunks he calls legs, and projects well in the NFL. Used to back up current Eagles RT Lane Johnson at Oklahoma.

7th round: Dean Marlowe, S, James Madison. To tell you the truth, this one is just me paying homage to my school. But because the 7th round is such a crapshoot, I feel I can justify myself. As somebody who has seen Marlowe play live, I can tell you that he could be a FCS gem. Tall, athletic, great instincts, can be used on ST, and a big hitter. Might not get drafted, but I would put money on him at least being signed by a team this offseason.
