Raiders hire Musgrave as offensive coordinator - BGN
In case you missed it from last night. Plus the Eagles also made some other coaching staff changes.
10 players who could interest the Eagles at the Senior Bowl: Defense edition - PhillyVoice
Eric Kendricks - This is the brother of Eagles ILB Mychal Kendricks. The Kndricks brothers play the same position, and have nearly identical size. Like Mychal, Eric has impressive athleticism. He can cover, he can blitz, and this season he was a tackling machine, leading the Bruins with 145 tackles, or 58 more than any of his teammates. Here's Kendricks' game against Virginia earlier this season. He's always around the football, and he made two huge plays in this game -- He forced fumble that was a returned for a TD, and he intercepted a pass that he returned for a TD:
Problem Solving - Iggles Blitz
The Eagles must fix the secondary. The problem is obvious, but the solution isn’t easy. In theory we’d like to replace both CBs and Nate Allen. There are a couple of problems with that. First, you would have a secondary with 3 new starters, which is far from ideal. After the OL, the secondary is the unit that needs stability the most. All 4 starters would be getting used to each other and 3 of them would be learning the system. The goal is to quit having confused DBs and blown coverages.
Ten Observations: An Eagles Slant To the Weekend - Birds 24/7
A couple free agent cornerbacks worth discussing in that game: Tramon Williams and Byron Maxwell. Williams turns 32 in March and gave up the game-winning touchdown to Jermaine Kearse, but that was an absolute dime by Wilson. Williams' coverage (with no safety help) was actually pretty good. Maxwell is the name being discussed most often around these parts, and for good reason. He has size (6-1) and will only be 27 at the start of next season. Maxwell has played a lot of Cover 1 and Cover 3 in Seattle, and that's what the Eagles play a lot of. He can play outside and also cover the slot. And Maxwell played really well against the Birds earlier this season.
Should Eagles commit to Nick Foles as their QB? - NJ.com
To go from a perennial 10-6 team to an elite one, the Eagles don't need a new cornerback or safety. They either need to pray Foles fixes all of his flaws, or they need to commit all of their resources this offseason to finding a new quarterback.
The Big Question: The Missing Element? - PE.com
The single element I would like to add, or more accurately, reinstate, is a dominating offensive line. It was so good in 2013 when all five starters stayed healthy and started every game and the offense soared – equal parts devastating with explosive (plus-20 yards) plays in the passing game and a ground attack that was outstanding as LeSean McCoy led the NFL. It is no coincidence that the lack of continuity up front in 2014 hampered the offense, increased the giveaways, contributed to the struggles in the red zone and took away chances for the passing game down the field.
Eagles' Kelly will size up talent at Senior Bowl workouts - Inquirer
As the Eagles' "personnel executive" search continues, Chip Kelly will attend his first week of Senior Bowl practices as the team's de facto general manager. The Eagles' former GM, meanwhile, is not expected to be in attendance as practices begin on Tuesday. Howie Roseman will miss his first Senior Bowl in years, certainly since he became GM in 2010. Kelly, his assistant coaches and the Eagles' scouting staff will be here, however, as preparation for the draft begins in earnest. There will be a missing member. Kelly has interviewed several candidates for the chief personnel job - and been declined the chance to meet with others - but he has yet to make a hire.
Developing storylines for Eagles at Senior Bowl - CSN Philly
The Senior Bowl kicks off this week in Mobile, Alabama. Weigh-ins and the first practice start Tuesday morning. Practices run through Thursday and the game takes place at 3 p.m. Saturday at Ladd-Peebles Stadium. Rosters for the North and South squads and other game information can be found at seniorbowl.com. As far as the Eagles are concerned, here are some developing storylines for their annual venture to the Mobile Bay area.
Russell Wilson stands tall from the pocket - SB Nation
Critics still knock the Seahawks' quarterback over a misguided notion that he can't play well from the pocket. In Sunday's NFC Championship, he proved otherwise during Seattle's comeback win.
