Philadelphia Eagles Worst Case Scenario: Nick Foles Mediocrity - About
The worst case scenario for Philadelphia is one where they commit to mediocrity. Simply put, Foles playing merely "good enough" will not be good enough. A mediocre performance from Foles puts the Eagles in a tough spot. A mediocre Foles puts Philadelphia in, for a lack of a better term, quarterback purgatory. On one hand, capable quarterbacks are hard to find and Foles may be to good to pass up. On the other hand, he might not be good enough to lead the team to a championship win, which is obviously the ultimate goal.
Malcolm Jenkins On Interceptions and Scoring - BGN
(In case you missed it from late last night.) Malcolm Jenkins is currently tied for first in the NFL in interceptions, with 3 in 4 games. In New Orleans, he only had 6 in 5 years. What changed?
Bad Game - Iggles Blitz
The Eagles lost 26-21. Regardless of the score, that was a bad game. The Eagles made a ton of mistakes. Sloppy football is going to catch up with you at some point and that’s exactly what happened today. The Niners defense played well, but the Eagles offense had a lot of self-inflicted wounds. Chip Kelly didn’t call a good game. Nick Foles didn’t play well. The makeshift OL had a bad day. Zach Ertz fumbled the ball to SF and set up a short TD drive. Riley Cooper let the potential game-wining TD pass go through his hands. And on and on.
One Yard Away, Eagles Offense Fails To Finish - Birds 24/7
Down 26-21, the Eagles needed to drive 91 yards to take the lead and escape Levi’s Stadium with a fourth straight victory. They were able to pick up 90 of those yards, but faced with two opportunities from the 1 yard line, the Eagles were unable to close the deal. "We just didn't execute," said Nick Foles. "It's as simple as that. I'm not going to try to break it down or anything. We just didn't execute the play. In that situation, I have to give the guys an opportunity to make a play, and I didn't do that. We'll work toward it so in those situations we have to capitalize and get the ball in the end zone."
McCoy's struggles just get bigger - Inquirer
His back turned to the rest of the visitors' locker room here at Levi's Stadium, LeSean McCoy spat the word "embarrassing" into his stall before facing the reporters who'd sidled up to him.
10 observations from Eagles-49ers - CSN Philly
Not sure what to say about Foles. He was just awful. This was like the Dallas game last year. He held onto the ball too long again, which you just can’t do playing behind this offensive line, he missed open guys, he made poor decisions, he just looked out of sorts all afternoon. Foles has really only played one complete game so far, last week against the Skins. He did get going on that last drive, but then he missed wildly on 4th-and-goal from the 1. I still believe in the kid, but the Eagles really need some consistency from him.
Close, But Not Enough For Eagles - PE.com
Chip Kelly didn't mince words after the 26-21 loss on Sunday at Levi's Stadium talking about his offense. "We got whupped up front," he said after the Eagles failed to score offensively against the 49ers. "That's not an excuse. That's just reality."
