Eagles 2014 53 man roster prediction

QB - Nick Foles, Mark Sanchez, Matt Barkley

No surprises here except for the fact that Sanchez is looking sharp. Im starting to think half of Sanchez problem in NYC was immaturity but also not having the proper guidance and support. I think the Jets locker room wasn't a very unified one and Head Coach Rex Ryan wasn't the right mentor for Sanchez.. I study Sanchez' demeanor in game and on the sidelines, he just appears to be brimming with confidence and showing maturity and leadership qualities. As one of the biggest Sanchez signing haters here, I'm impressed with not just his play, but with how hes been carrying himself.

RB - Lesean McCoy, Darren Sproles, Henry Josey, Chris Polk

I think Josey has a real shot at making the roster. He can do a lit bit of everything and Polk gives you that north and south change up that Sproles, McCoy, and Josey don't offer. One thing to remember if your asking why I'm selecting four running backs to make the final roster. If McCoy gets injured for any length of time, what do we have? Polk and Josey are inexperienced and Sproles is a aging running back who is not a every down player. Running the football is a very big part of this offense and I fully expect the eagles to carry four. Surprise, no Matthew Tucker

WR- Riley Cooper, Jeremy Maclin, Jordan Matthews, Josh Huff, Arrelious Benn, Ifeanyi Momah

First four are locks, Im going with Benn and Momah though over Jeff Maehl and Brad Smith here though. We have to stop saying, yes but the other two provide more for special teams at some point and start looking for production. Benn was a promising prospect who has been plagued by injury. He's shown flashes of being a good back up receiver who makes plays when he is in the game, and Momah is really starting to look like a player developing into a solid rotational wide receiver. I think Momah could use one more year to develop, but he looks really good at times when he plays and you can't teach size. I mean think about it, Jeff Maehl over Ifeanyi Momah because Maehl is a contributor on special teams? How much is Maehl really bringing to special teams because I don't see much loss if we dropped him and he offers nothing to the passing game.

TE - Brent Celek, Zach Ertz, James Casey

No surprises here. I'd really wish Trey Burton or Blake Annen pushed Casey for that third spot, but Casey isn't going anywhere. I was really excited when we got Casey after hearing all the creative ways we were going to use him. All he has been though is a expensive special teams player. If he restructured for less money I wouldn't care so much about that third spot considering how good Celek and Ertz are, but it bothers me having to automatically put down James Casey's name sometimes

OL - Jason Kelce, Jason Peters, Allen Barbre, Todd Herremans, Evan Mathis, Matt Tobin, Julain Vandervedle, Dennis Kelly, David Molk (Lane Johnson suspended, so not including on 53 man roster)

No surprises here that I can think of

DL -Cedric Thorton, Fletcher Cox, Vinny Curry, Bennie Logan, Beau Allen, Taylor Hart, Brandon Bair

Fletcher Cox, call it preseason, call it what you'd like. He's a 4-3 guy and not a 3-4 player, keep the excuses rolling, I don't think and I don't want Fletcher Cox back next year and not because of a lack of talent, but because of lack of heart. He just seems to play like spot is secure and does just enough to make sure he's a starter. He is not playing to his potential and that is why many fans including myself are rough on Cox. When you have a guy playing with so much heart like you see with Curry, It's tough to support Cox as the undisputed starting DE. (Yea but Cox is better against the run.....I know....I know) :)

LB - Connor Barwin, Trent Cole, Brandon Graham, Marcus Smith, Demeco Ryans, Mychal Kendricks, Najee Goode, Bryan Braman

I don't think this would be to much of a surprise besides watching Casey Matthews being cut.

DB - Malcolm Jenkins, Brandon Boykin, Cary Williams, Bradley Fletcher, Nolan Carroll, Chris Maragos, Nate Allen, Earl Wolff, Jaylen Watkins, Ed Reynolds

Special Teams - Donnie Jones, Alex Henery, Jon Dorenbos
