USA Soccer Advances, Eagles Players Celebrate

Robert Cianflone

It's always good when the USA lives to see another day.

It was far from pretty, but thanks to some assistance from Portugal (and specifically Cristiano Ronaldo), the United States men's national soccer team is through to the next round of the 2014 World Cup.

USA actually lost to Germany with a score of 1-0 on Thursday but it didn't matter because they still finished with the second most points in their group (plus a tiebreaker). Yeah, soccer is weird. The game itself was... forgettable. Eagles safety Keelan Johnson didn't even realize it was on.

But it was still a good result in the big picture, so there was reason to celebrate:

To top it all off, there was even an Eagles fan representing his team down in Brazil.

USA will take on Belgium next week on July 1st at 4 PM EST. Win or go home.
