One position on this Eagles roster that needed a lot of construction was at the safety position. As the off-season progressed, the signing of Malcolm Jenkins occurred. Jenkins has the skill set and fits the leadership quality the secondary can use to grow into themselves. Jenkins wasn't the name all fans were ready to hear as the new addition at this position. With the amount of cap space the Eagles had, many thought names like Jairus Bryd or T.J Ward would be the best option for this roster. However, those names were to expensive but it seems that Jenkins has adapted to the Eagles and is doing a great job with the younger defensive backs and safeties.
During OTA's and mini-camp there have been floods of pictures, tweets, and posts including the newly acquired Jenkins with a familiar young face. That face being, Earl Wolff the young safety that had gotten hurt at the end of the season. From last season, Wolff looked to be improving and looked like a clear cut choice to be a starting safety sooner rather than later. Having these two together can only mean great things for the secondary. Chemistry between players can't be taught by a coaching staff. It comes from a commitment of players who want to learn and from those who want to teach.
Right now, as a fan of this team you have to enjoy what your seeing from your veteran and young players on the roster. Especially Malcolm Jenkins and Earl Wolff as they get ready for training camp together it should be a great friendship. Lets all hope Nate Allen can join the duo as well, and they can all feed off of each other. Jenkins teaching these young men the ins and outs of the position can only benefit as the season approaches.
