The Philadelphia Eagles added seven new draft picks to their roster through the 2014 NFL Draft and around 15 more rookies via undrafted free agency. Most of these rookies have already arrived in Philadelphia but they won't officially hit the practice fields for the first time until later this week when Eagles rookie minicamp gets underway. The Eagles voluntary offseason program has already been going on since April 21. Here's a look at some of the remaining key offseason dates:
Rookie minicamp: May 16-18.
OTA Offseason Workouts: May 27-29, June 2-3, June 5, June 9-12.
Mandatory Minicamp: June 17-19.
Most rookies should be able to participate in all of these events. Ed Reynolds, the safety that the Eagles drafted in the 5th round, will not be able to participate in any of these events except for rookie minicamp. He's still obligated to finish his semester at Stanford and because they're on the quarters system, he won't be done until later in the summer. Reynolds' situation compares to that of Zach Ertz, who also went to Stanford, last offseason. Reynolds will be ready in time for Eagles training camp assuming he has signed his rookie contract. The same goes for the six remaining unsigned Eagles rookie draft picks. (Josh Huff signed his rookie contract on Tuesday.)
The Eagles are allowed to bring in some players on a tryout basis for rookie minicamp. One of those players is undrafted outside linebacker Anthony Larry from Eastern Washington University. Tryout players do not count against the 90 man roster as they are obviously not under contract.
