NFL Draft 2014: Josh Huff becomes first Oregon Ducks player drafted under Chip Kelly

Scott Olmos-USA TODAY Sports

Chip Kelly and his former Oregon Ducks wide receiver Josh Huff are reunited at last.

When Josh Huff's phone rang on Friday evening, he looked down and saw a series of numbers that made him cry.

"215."

Huff knew seeing those digits meant he was going to be the latest draft pick of the Philadelphia Eagles. Huff knew that his former head coach Chip Kelly kept the promise he had made to his former wide receiver that they would reunite one day. Huff knew he couldn't have ended up in a better place to begin his NFL career.

It's a little funny to think it took all the way to the Eagles' second draft under Chip Kelly to draft an Oregon player. It was a little surprise when Kelly didn't take at least former Duck in last year's draft. Instead, Kelly opted to draft the players that gave his former team the most trouble. This year, Kelly couldn't seem any more happy to make Huff the first Oregon player drafted under his tenure in Philadelphia.

In a media session shortly after the selection became official, Kelly explained why Huff was the pick for the Eagles at No. 86. Kelly lauded Huff's versatility. That's always a buzz word when it comes to Chip. More specifically, Kelly loves Huff's ability to play on both the inside and the outside. Perhaps most importantly, Huff is a really good special teams player. By now it's apparent Kelly does not take special teams lightly.

Huff becomes the fifth former Oregon player on the Eagles roster. Others include fan-favorite Casey Matthews, Brandon Bair, Josh Kaddu, Jeff Maehl, and Will Murphy.

For now, Kelly and Huff are just happy to be back together again.

Reunited and it feels so good.
