The San Francisco 49ers have until 9pm Friday to make a decision on Aldon Smith. As of now it seems as though it could go either way. However don't know if Smith will even be eligible to play in or any of 2015 with a potential suspension coming down from the league. Three things I do know are:
1- The Eagles need a premier rush OLB
2- Smith has 42 sacks in 43 games
3- Philadelphia has been a place known to give second chances (Cooper, Vick).
There are few if at all any that can do what Smith can do on the field. While he is not the greatest in coverage, he is more than capable and is a 3 down OLB. Bringing in a player who has averaged nearly a sack per game over his career with the ability of Smith, takes a position of weakness and instantly upgrades it to a strength. While we all know that Smith carries baggage, which would be a major factor/issue (assuming he hits the open market) Philadelphia has not completely shy'd away from this type of player.... see Riley Cooper and Michael Vick.......
There's a chance that Smith stays with the 49ers and/or will face a suspension. But, if he is available, how would you feel about the Eagles targeting and/or acquiring the best edge rusher in football? If there is no suspension, the money is right and we do not have to trade for him, I am all for it!
How do you feel?
