This post might get me a reputation as a huge Rutgers homer. However, I am here to talk about a player who might be undervalued and could be a solid fit for the Eagles.
I am here to talk about Jeremy Deering the S/ KR/PR/WR/RB/QB.
Height: 6' 2"
40 yard dash: 4.33 seconds
Vertical Jump: 33.5"
Bench Press: 18 reps
Usually if a player plays that many different position it's because they are a poor fit, or just not that good. However, Deering played solid if unspectacularly at every position he tried out. The Rutgers coaching staff trusted him to learn and play each position well. He switched constantly without any complaints, doing what it took to get on the field and help out his team. He is athletic enough to be a burner, but was also known to lower his shoulder to pick up a few extra yards. At safety he generally was a ball hawk, but also came down and played in the box. Most places project him as a safety in the NFL.
To me he would be a great pick up in the 7th round or as a UDFA. He checks a bunch of Chip Kelley's boxes: big, tall, fast, high character, versatile. Plus how fun is a safety who can run a 4.3 40?
I'd love to hear some thoughts on Jeremy Deering as a 7th/UDFA
