* I realize that I probably should have put this under FanShots instead of FanPosts, but I wanted to add a few comments, point out some quotes from the article, and I didn't like that BGN-ers can't comment on FanPosts. *
So I was browsing PennLive.com and I stumbled upon this:
Let me make it clear that I'm not an expert like so many of you that post here. But from the moment I started reading this article, I was screaming at my computer. I'm not sure what kind of background or credibility Tom Flynn (aka "Philadelphia Flynnie") has, but his article seems to contradict nearly everything I read here on BGN. And I tend to trust the BGN writers.
In the opening sentence, Flynn claims:
Chip Kelly's decision – and don't be mistaken, this was Kelly's call – to release wide receiver DeSean Jackson
First, for anyone to think Kelly had the authority to act alone on this decision has to be utter nonsense. I can't in my right mind believe that Roseman/Lurie and the other powers that be would stand idly by and let the Chipper make this decision on his own.
Secondly, the sole reason Flynn claims Jackson was cut:
DeSean Jackson is gone because he wouldn't buy into Chip Kelly's program.
is a crock of shit. While it may be true that Jackson wasn't buying into it entirely, Jackson's performance last season should have indicated to everyone, including Jackson, that Kelly's program was beneficial to the team. Why would someone completely disregard that? To act as that is the sole reason the Eagles parted with their star WR, who is coming off of a career best year, and to ignore other signs, and that it was most likely a factor of several things is lazy journalism, in my opinion. As much heat as BGN writers took during this saga (some from me), I think all of the writers here are well above Flynn in terms of writing.
Just curious as to everyone else's thoughts on the article on PennLive...
