So here me out...We all understand the importance of a player learning his role and perfecting it but I feel like Kendricksonly played ILB by default just to have him on the field. With LOLB needing the ability to drop back in coverage, Mychal has more than enough speed to do so (certainly more than Barwin.) Having this kind or range in your LOLB allows for more more right side atttack along with Nickel coverage which the Eagles love to do.
Now that leads to Barwin. Connor would never ride the bench but is he capable of playing ILB? I'd argue more than Kendricks. He's bigger and has more experienced dealing with taking on blockers and reading plays. So it comes down to if Kendricks would be able to get to the passer, I think he's shown that when given the chance. He has the agility to finesse around the big tackles and he adds 5-10 lbs he could have the power to get through some of them. The biggest question would be whether or not Kendricks can set the edge.
This gives us the chance to draft a LB to soon replace Cole or Ryans. Overall what I'm getting at is that I think Kendricks needs to be on the field, but is more suited than Barwin for coverage that the position needs. If we draft a a stud ILB and Cole and Barwin rotate at ROLB, so be it.
