It's day 3 and the Eagles haven't made the splash in which everyone would have liked and I understand your frustration. But I'm not mad because they have a plan or so I would think. Let's look at their moves so far. They'd brought in two safetys, linebacker and a running back. Jenkins and Sproles are the big names so far. If you look at Chip Kelly he is a coach who wants guys that are versatile on offense and defense. Don't get me wrong he'll take a dominant guy at any position versatile or not. I don't know the details of the trade for Sproles but I hope it doesn't involve draft picks this year. With this draft being so deep we need to acquirer more picks. Putting that all that aside lets look towards the draft based on FA so far. The Eagles brought in Malcolm Jenkins as a cover safety and will increase the role of our rookie last year. Yes Jenkins is a slight upgrade but don't think the Eagles won't snatch a Dix or Pryor in the first round if they fall into their lap. They just upgraded this position with that thought in mind knowing that Byrd would cost too much. Remember when looking at these FA you have to look at their contracts to determine how long they will be around based on the guaranteed money. The other safety was only sign for depth purposes. Next is our recent acquisition Darren Sproles and what can I say. This move makes since because of his versatility and small contract. So if you were looking towards drafting Thomas or Archer forget it. The only way those guys gets draft by the Eagles now is if they are sitting there late in the draft around 6 or 7 round because their role has now been filled by Sproles. Finally the Houston Texans linebacker we signed fills in another special teams roll, but he has a chance to fight for a starting spot because this will be Trent Coles last season as an Eagle. That being said I believe that the Eagles will target a pass rush linebacker in the first three rounds. This is just my opinion and maybe it makes since to you like it does to me.
