Lay out your ideal draft and roster moves here? V2

Earlier in this season (October) I wrote an article saying what i thought our optimal Free-Agency and Draft Strategy was here (sorry for that plug). The strikeouts in the article are what i put in my previous mock offseason and the edits are my thoughts and/or additions onto those comments.

Here is a revised version of that with more logical choices due to the developments within our 2013 Season and provide 2 mock drafts depending on our ideology this offseason.

My ideal moves

Signings:

Free-agency-2_medium

*Sign Jairus Byrd in the offseason

Edit: Byrd would still be great, but drafting quality safeties would be better in my opinion

*Sign Donte (W)hitner

Edit: I want the Eagles to draft a safety that kills people like he does or like weapon-x did but the Eagles don't really need "hitner" in their locker room.

*Sign Paul Soliai from the Dolphins he does Sopoaga's job better and can pass rush and is (slightly) younger

EDIT: Bennie Logan is much much much younger than both of these guys and according to our coaches and scouting staff can possibly put on another 10-15Lbs To fit the mold of NT. Also his technique should improve since he only starting playing Nt midseason.

(If Riley Cooper goes): Sign Kenny Britt to a 2yr 5mil Contract (if he chooses to accept it) and see what he can do in the Chippah's offense. I believe he has much higher upside than Riley Cooper and is actually one year younger.

**Sign Brian Orakpo if he cant come to terms with the redskins (he knows the 3-4 and why not weaken a division rival and get intel on people :P)

Edit: We need another Olb and as i said it would weaken the Redskins and get us some intel if they keep some schemes, there is no downside except for his likely high wage demands.

New* Resigns/Restructures:

Riley Cooper: Let Go for the cap and the deep Wr offseason ahead.

Jeremy Maclin: Resign to 2yr 5mil Deal (if he wants to accept this also)

Trent Cole: If we cant aquire Orakpo restructure his contract to be +2 years 6 million dollar contract compared to the 5 million hes due next year alone.

Jason Avant: Let Go due to cap if we get a suitable replacement.

Mock Draft Option 1(Secondary/Defense heavy): (if Chip and Roseman Realize how much defense matters due to Seattle dismantling the Broncos in the Super Bowl) (Click players names for highlights)

500x305-draft-noyear-generic_medium

1st Round(Pick 22): Calvin Pryor SS/FS Louisville: this guy hits like a madman and creates turn overs often this is what we need people keep spouting about (the next B-Dawk) whenever we get a safety but he needs to be able to hit and affect the opponent mentally first. He also fits the Chip kelly/Bill Davis defensive player mold of being pretty big at 6 foot 2 and 215Lbs.

2nd Round(Pick 54): Deone Bucannon SS/FS Washington state: (Yeah i want to double up on the secondary) Good lord this guy also hits, he pretty big at 6 foot 1 and about 215Lbs and was notably the most muscular guy at the senior bowl a while back. When he hits people he just stops them in their tracks and i hope if we get him this can transfer into the large tailbacks of the Nfl. Hes a balanced hard hitting safety.

3rd Round(Approx Pick 86): Donte Moncrief WR Ole Miss: This guy is for chip this is a big (6-3) reciever that can run well and stretch defenses. He is a terrible route runner which fortunately can be fixed.

4th Round(Approx Pick 116): De'Anthony Thomas Wr/Rb/Kr(OW if you will) Oregon: I think if Chip restrains himself and picks defense for a few rounds he will come out and grab "splurge" players and bolster the options in our multifaceted offense allowing us to have a extremely fast and agile Darren Sproles type we could line up anywhere on the field. We also need a kick returner and DAT taking on this duty would allow Desean to finally focus on being a receiver after his career year.

5th Round(Approx Pick 148): Aaron Colvin CB Oklahoma: Poor dude tore is ACL at Senior Bowl practice trying to improve his stock and wound up doing the exact opposite. When healthy he is a big physical and aggressive in coverage corner squarely at 6 Feet. He was great against the run etc but his aggression caused some mistakesin his game such as pass interferences, but he has lots of talent. I hope the Eagles can get him and he can make a full recovery.

6th Round pick 1(No idea which actual pick this will be): Martavis Bryant Wr Clemson: Martavis Bryant is a pretty raw receiving specimen, but is also a 6 foot 5 fast deep threat reciever. Martivis Supposedly ran a 4.30s 40 yd dash in workouts with likely and first reciever taken Sammy Watkins and Charone Peak. He is a pretty bad route runner but that can be polished.

6th Round pick (from NE)(also no idea when this one is): Colt Lyerla hes an extremely talented tight end, but is kind of the Vontaze Burfict of the draft this year due to him having many "extracurricular" issues such as possession of Cocaine. All of that aside Lyerla is a great pass catching tight end who loves contact he can also take snaps and block as a full back replacing James Casey and making us absolutely deadly in 12 personnel with Ertz and him. I think since chip and his staff know him they can get him under control.

Mock Draft Option 2 (Chip Kelly mostly Offensive draft)

500x305-draft-noyear-generic_medium

1st Round(Pick 22): Kelvin Benjamin Wr Florida State: This nation champ helped Jameis winston and the Seminoles roll their way to the champion ship. Hes a great reciever with extremly high upside in Chip Kelly's offense. Kelvin is 6 foot 5, strong, fast and possesses a top of the line vertical jump. In the Staffs eyes he could be the last piece for the eagles offense for a while. He makes great hands catches but is a mediocre route runner.

2nd Round(Pick 54): Deone Bucannon SS/FS Washington state: Good lord this guy also hits, he pretty big at 6 foot 1 and about 215Lbs and was notably the most muscular guy at the senior bowl a while back. When he hits people he just stops them in their tracks and i hope if we get him this can transfer into the large tailbacks of the Nfl. Hes a balanced hard hitting safety.

3rd Round(Approx Pick 86): Kyle Van Noy Olb/or Jermiah Attaochu Olb/ or Jarvis Landry Wr : Any of these guys would work we have a fairly large need for another talented pass russing 3-4 Olb both of the first 2 fit the bill although Van noy is better in coverage and is a more balanced player. Jarvis landry is here because he has amazing hands and is a great route runner who can also replace Jason Avant in the slot because Avant is getting older and is(and pretty much always has been slow)

Position changes:

*Joe Kruger to OLB

Edit: Move him to Olb for Depth reasons, Also he may be pretty good at it like his brother Paul.

*Brandon Graham back to defensive end and not waste that first round player

Edit: If we haven't traded him by now we need to get some use out of him by moving him back to defensive end primarily and be worked into the rotation as both a DE and Olb. I still believe that we shouldn't waste our first round pick(that we traded up for) from a couple years ago.

if we cannot get a better nose tackle put Cedric Thornton there and rotate Brandon Graham and Bennie logan at one side and rotate Fletcher Cox and Vinny Curry/Bennie Logan on the other side

Edit: I still think that Bennie Logan is best suited to be a DE. If the coaching staff agrees we could move Cedric Thornton he is 6 foot 4 and already 310lbs if he could stand to put on another 15lbs and retain a good amount of mobility there is no reason he couldn't be a great NT. Also hes already a stud against the run so a position change to eat up blocks and try to stop the runner in the backfield can benefit him.

*if none of the safeties are able to be signed we should acquire a shutdown or serviceable corner via draft/or Free agency and move Cary Williams to Free safety because his tackling is what we need. Frankly he gives too much cushion to play corner and when Andy Reid ran the same screen to Donnie Avery over and over again he was the only one who noticed and if he were at safety he could've made the proper adjustments.

EDIT: If we are unable to acquire a good safety in the draft or free-agency Cary Williams at FS is still a solid option I like his tenacity and his tackling etc.

Speculative Trades:

*Trent Cole (to a team that is not in the NFC east) for a 5th in either of the next 2 drafts (only trade him if we cant restructure his contract or acquire Orakpo and/or Brandon Graham establishes himself as a good OLB)

EDIT: Still valid

*Isaac Sopoaga for a 5th/6th in either of the next 2 drafts

EDIT: Done by the Eagles General management

*Mike Vick to Jacksonville near the end of the year if foles wins the job(doubtful)

Edit: It happened and Foles did a helluva job and Vick is FA anyway.

*Todd Herremans for something. Herremans has been making too many mistakes for the veteran that he is we will see what hes doing by the end of the year.

Edit: If we can find a suitable replacement trade him he was mediocre all year.

So guys post your ideal moves/feedback in the comments. Excuse me for grammar and punctuation this was a late night project :P(ill try to fix the errors eventually or in Rev. 3 if i want to do that later.
