Not just for his position, but for any position. His name is Tyler Starr and he's bigger than you imagine. When I first heard that an OLB could break the 3 cone drill record I expected him to be built like Ryan Shazier or Chris Borland. Starr is 6'5 250 (unofficial until combine).
Let's get to the numbers. Tyler Starr has been clocked at 6.29 seconds. To put that in perspective, the record for a linebacker is 6.71 by Xavier Gooden last year. The fastest time last year at the combine was 6.52 by CB Will Davis. The recent best time considered for the combine is held by... you guessed it, our very own Jeff Maehl, who ran a 6.42 in 2011.
Intrigued? I hope so. I was gladly surprised to see that draftbreakdown actually had 2 tapes cut up of Tyler Starr so here you go. He's far from a perfect prospect, but he clearly shows flashes of elite pass rushing potential.
