Report: Eagles QB Coach Bill Lazor Interviewing for Miami Dolphins Offensive Coordinator Job

Quarterback Whispering - Howard Smith-USA TODAY Sports

Bill Lazor could be moving on from the Eagles this offseason.

According to ESPN Insider Adam Schefter, the Miami Dolphins are interviewing Eagles quarterback coach for their open offensive coordinator job. It's worth noting the Eagles can block Lazor from interviewing for lateral jobs (position coaches & coordinators) but they can't block him if he is interviewing for a head coaching opportunity. The Eagles must have granted Lazor permission to interview with the Dolphins in this case, since it's not for the Miami head coaching job.

Lazor was expected to draw interest this off-season, according to reports. Earlier in the week, it was reported the Redskins had interest in interviewing Lazor. Lazor's work with Michael Vick and Nick Foles in Chip Kelly's offense could intrigue NFL teams. Lazor could be seen responsible for playing a part in Foles' second year success (27 TD to 2 INT). Tommy Lawlor wrote about the possibility of Lazor moving on last week.

Lazor has coached in the NFL and in college. He has been a coordinator and positional assistant. He's only 41 years old, but already has 20 seasons of experience as an assistant coach. That means he knows what he's doing, but is still young enough to have an open mind and be considered a coach on the rise. The older a coach gets, the more he is considered set in his ways, which isn't always an attractive thing. Lazor could be an offensive coordinator candidate at the NFL level.

Coincidentally, the Dolphins are also reported to have interest in Eagles VP of Player Personnel Tom Gamble for their open GM job.
