Opening Day - Tommy Lawlor, Iggles Blitz
Kirk Herbstreit mentioned during the ND/Michigan game that he can’t wait to see how Chip Kelly does in the opener, as well as the whole year. There will be a ton of eyes on Kelly this fall. NFL owners and GMs want to know if an oddball outsider like him can succeed in the NFL, where innovation comes slowly. College coaches want to know if there is hope for them at the next level. I’m sure Kevin Sumlin from Texas A&M and Brian Kelly from Notre Dame will have a keen eye on Chip and the Eagles. If Chip’s ideas translate well to the league, those coaches may really listen to offers this time around.

Eagles vs. Redskins; Setting the stage - Brent Cohen, EaglesRewind
Is the offensive line good, or great? If the team is going to challenge for a playoff spot this year (or even mediocrity), the offensive line has to be better than "good". Jason Peters is healthy. The team just spent its #4 overall pick on Lane Johnson, the other OT. If that doesn’t translate to one of the better O-Lines in the league, the team’s in trouble. Specifically, watch for Peters getting to the second level (can he still dominate?).

Cheat Sheet: Eagles Offense Vs. Redskins Defense - Sheil Kapadia, Birds 24/7
There’s been a lot of talk this week about how much Chip Kelly has shown in the preseason. Redskins defensive coordinator Jim Haslett told reporters he watched tape of 23 or 24 Oregon games, along with all of the Birds’ preseason contests. "If they can do anything else, God bless ‘em," Haslett said.

Eagles-Redskins: What We're Watching - Paul Domowitch, Eagletarian
The Turnover Battle: The Eagles had a league-worst minus-24 turnover differential last year. Coughed it up a league-worst 37 times and forced a league-worst 13 turnovers. That’s a lot of league-worsts. Things didn’t go much better in the preseason. They had a minus-5 turnover differential and picked off just one pass in four games. Quarterback Michael Vick has had just four turnover-free performances in his last 31 starts in which he’s played at least a half.

DeSean Jackson waiting for call to return punts - Reuben Frank, CSN Philly
DeSean Jackson hasn’t been a full-time punt returner since the first half of the 2011 season, and he didn’t return a single punt during the Eagles’ four preseason games. He handled punt return duties in only one of the last six games of 2011 and had just one punt return in his injury-shortened season last year. That doesn’t mean you won’t see him do it. Soon.

5 Keys to the Game for Eagles Monday Night Showdown - Phil Thompson, FanSpeak
Contain Alfred Morris: Though much of the hype is on RG3, the real key for the Redskins offense this year might be running back Alfred Morris. The Redskins are a run first team who struggled in games where they had to throw the ball more than 30 times last season. For the Eagles to force them to throw the ball that many times, they have to contain Alfred Morris. That will be even more key this year, as Griffin is less likely to run coming back from the knee injury. This could be a tougher task for the Eagles given how much the struggled against the run in some of their preseason contests. But if they come up with a good game plan, they should be able to slow Morris down enough.
