Eagles add S Keelan Johnson and OL/DL Isaac Remington to the Practice Squad

Steve Mitchell-USA TODAY Sports

The Philadelphia Eagles have added three more players to their practice squad.

That brings the practice squad total up to 7, one shy of the 8 man limit. The rest of the practice squad-ers include: WR Greg Salas, RB Matthew Tucker, OT Michael Bamiro, OLB Travis Long, and CB/S Trenton Robinson.

Keelan Johnson is the new face. Our SBN sister site, The Phinsider, did a nice profile on him back when he was on the Dolphins 90 man roster. Here's a blurb on Johnson from the Arizona State SBN blog, House of Sparky:

It's hard to argue with Johnson's production level in 2012, as his 88 tackles were second on the team. Johnson also showed a propensity to come up with big plays as his five interceptions led the team and put him in the top 15 nationally in that category.

Additionally, Johnson helped anchor the secondary as a team captain and his leadership presence was a major bonus for his fellow defensive backs

It doesn't hurt that the Eagles are adding extra bodies in practice at positions where they are thin on the roster, such as in the secondary.

Isaac Remington played as a defensive lineman at Oregon (Duck bias!) and was signed by the Eagles as an undrafted free agent. Shortly before the Eagles cut him to trim the roster down to 75, Remington had switched to playing OL in training camp practice. I imagine this makes him a useful practice player since he can fill up reps on both sides of the line.

With one open spot left on the Eagles practice squad, it'll be interesting to see who they fill it with. High drama!
