Game Preview – PHI at DEN - Tommy Lawlor, Iggles Blitz
I’m really excited for this game. I know some are scared of what Peyton might do to the Eagles defense. San Diego played a brilliant game on offense a couple of weeks back and the Eagles still almost pulled that game out. I absolutely think this is a winnable game.
Fan-Demonium: Embrace The Challenge - Tommy Lawlor, PE.com
It isn't very often that you get a chance to face one of the greatest players in NFL history. That's exactly what the Eagles will do on Sunday when they travel to Denver to take on Peyton Manning and the Broncos. Some people fret over facing a great player like Manning. I love it. These are the games you should get excited about. Manning could have a great day and post huge numbers, but you never know if the defense will play a great game and help the Eagles pull off a big upset.
A Look At Lane Johnson's Development - Danta Klaus, PE.com
When the Eagles selected Lane Johnson fourth overall in April’s NFL Draft, the buzz around him was that he was the most naturally gifted athlete of the offensive tackle prospects with the highest ceiling, but that he was also the rawest in terms of experience and technique. After all, Johnson had only played the position for two seasons at the University of Oklahoma, having begun his college football career as a quarterback at Kilgore Community College. His rise was meteoric, and the trajectory of his development suggested an accelerated growth curve that would continue at the next level.
Cheat Sheet: Eagles Defense Vs. Broncos Offense - Sheil Kapadia, Birds 24/7
1. I guess we need to start with Peyton Manning, huh? Don’t know how much I can add that hasn’t already been said. He leads the NFL in completion percentage (73.0), yards-per-attempt (9.4), touchdowns (12) and passer rating (134.7). A year ago at this time, the Broncos were 1-2, and many questioned the future Hall of Famer’s arm strength. But with a new stable of weapons, Manning looks as good as ever. The Broncos are the top-ranked offense in the NFL, per Football Outsiders – first in passing and fifth in rushing. Denver is averaging 42.3 points per game. No other team is averaging more than 32.
Scouting report: Eagles' offense vs. Broncos' D - Geoff Mosher, CSN Philly
In each of their three games, the Eagles have amassed more than 400 yards of total offense thanks to Chip Kelly’s spread formations and up-tempo offense. But they haven’t consistently punched the ball into the end zone since the first half of the season opener against the Redskins (who, by the way, have the NFL’s 32nd-ranked total defense).
Wolff to get his shot at safety for the Eagles on Sunday - Jeff McLane, Inquirer
Wolff may be facing the stiffest test possible in his first start. Broncos quarterback Peyton Manning, already considered one of the greatest ever, has played some of the best football of his career through three games. He has completed 73 percent of his passes and has thrown 12 touchdowns and no interceptions.
Eagles Keys to the Game: How to Upset the Broncos - FanSpeak
5. Don't Be Afraid To Open Up the Playbook:
-This is the type of game where the Eagles need to dig into Chip Kelly's playbook for a number of trick plays. The Eagles have lost the past two games and are on the road, so now is not the time to be conservative with the Eagles play calling. No one is giving the Eagles a chance in this game so you really have nothing to lose by trying a couple creative plays. Now perhaps the "swinging gate" plays should be retired, but they should be able to come up with some things that the Broncos aren't expecting. This may be the game to try a LeSean McCoy wildcat package as well. I'd also look to line up DeSean Jackson in the backfield some to show a different look and create mismatches.
