Pro Football Focus is a site that grades NFL player performances. Let's take a look at what they had to say about the performances in Philadelphia's loss to the Chargers.
PFF offers explanation on their grading system on their website. Read more about that here.
Analysis: The Eagles offense was obviously great against the Chargers. The majority of the offensive line played well and the Eagles playmakers did just that: make plays. Michael Vick quarterbacked a great game.
The weak spots among the OL were Lane Johnson and Todd Herremans. Lane looked like a rookie at times and struggled in pass protection. He also committed two penalties, one which erased a DeSean Jackson touchdown. Herremans has had a shaky start to his 2013 campaign. Brown received a negative grade due to a penalty.
Analysis: Unlike the offense, the Eagles defense played poorly. There were a few bright spots, however.
Boykin was not only the Eagles best cornerback on the field but the best member of the whole secondary. Thornton and Cox specifically graded well against the run, as was Cole.
Kendricks was the Eagles' worst graded defender. His worst rating was in coverage, but he also graded poorly against the run. Kendricks missed 4 tackles against the Chargers.
Cary played well against Washington but struggled against the Chargers. He was targeted 9 times and allowed 8 receptions and allowed a 148.1 QB rating when thrown at. He also missed 3 tackles and committed 3 penalties.
It is no surprise to see the Eagles safeties played poorly. Chung and Allen were horrible in coverage.
Geathers only played 17 snaps but was graded poorly against the run and the pass. Barwin's poor grade comes from a lack of pass rush.
