For as much excitement as their was for the Eagles Monday night season opener verse the Washington Redskins, their is now even more excitement for the Eagles next game , the home opener against the San Diego Chargers Sunday, 1:00p.m. at Lincoln Financial Field. Now until Sunday just seems too far way. What was witnessed Monday Night at Fed Ex Field was just too exciting. I woke up this morning and was wishing the Eagles played again tonight. I could care less about the Philadelphia Phillies game. All I can think about is the Philadelphia Eagles.
This excitement has less to do with the Eagles 33-27 victory Monday and more to do with the way Chip Kelly's offense performed. It's not just something Philadelphia Eagles fans haven't seen before, but something the whole NFL itself hasn't seen. The tempo was incredibly fast and players were flying around the field. I found myself holding on the edge of my couch the whole time when the Eagles had the ball. I didn't want to make any 30 second trips to the fridge for the fear I might miss a spectacular play. One second it was Lesean Mccoy dancing around in space, next second it was Brent Celek running down the middle of the field, next second it was Mike Vick with a run, and then BOOM next thing you know you see Desean Jackson making a touchdown catch in the back of the end zone. Now these plays did not happen all exactly in that order or in the same drive, but my point is the Eagles are fast and exciting.
With the success of Monday night's game now all people around the league can't wait to see what is going to happen next. Is Chip Kelly's offense going to continue to succeed consistently from week to week? Are the Eagles players going to wear down? Is there more from Chip Kelly we haven't seen yet? It has ESPN talking besides just the local Philadelphia outlets. All I know is I can't wait until Sunday. I along with many other Eagles fans haven't been this excited to watch them in awhile and I can't help but think if Chip Kelly's offense can continue to perform like it did Monday for a whole season, then next year their is going to be a lot more prime time games for Lesean Mccoy and company, since the rest of America is going to be excited to watch them as well.
