College Football Prospects to Watch - WR

With the injury to Maclin and the massive question mark at WR2 we now have, I've been doing a lot more studying on the WR position. Currently as it stands, DJax has never proved to be a true WR1, Riley Cooper is a racist, Jason Avant is aging, and it's all downhill from there. WR may be a position PHI needs to seriously consider in the next draft. Here are a few prospects based on Chip Kelly's scheme (what we've seen from it) we should all consider keeping an eye on. All the players on this list have shown the ability to block so I won't put that on all of them, and since we have DJax and D.Johnson I'm ignoring the small speedy types.

Marqise Lee - USC - This kid has heisman potential. Freak on the field, but how much of it was because of Matt Barkley and Robert Woods on the field at the same time? No, those two are not elite talents, but their presence sure made a difference. M.Lee will now have a question mark all over the field besides him and be the primary focus of that offense. Curious to see how he responds, I have few question marks about him think he has top10 potential. Fun to watch him play.

Sammy Watkins - Clemson - Question marks about his character, but a very solid football player. I have him as one of two only first rounders in next years draft. Very quick for 6'1 and makes impressive catches at times. Threat to score no matter where he is on the field as long as the ball gets to him.

Brandon Coleman - Rutgers - Coleman has been very successful since arriving at Rutgers. At 6'6 he looks more like a TE and is about as fast as one too. He may be better suited for an Aaron Hernandez type role in an offense and converting to TE. Some draftniks have him listed as a first round WR but I currently have him in round 2. I need to see him consistently be able to get separation from CBs next year.

Cody Huffman - BYU - Similar to Coleman, also marked at a 2nd rounder. Stats were inflated against garbage competition, had a terrible game against Boise State last year.

Jordan Matthews - Vandy - Exact opposite of both Coleman/Huffman. Has had his best games against harder competition like Florida/South Carolina but lacks against the crappier teams. Great route runner with excellent hands. First round potential. Fun fact, he's Jerry Rice's cousin. If he has half the career his cousin had he'll be worth a first round pick and some.

Kenny Bell - Alabama - Shown big play ability but very inconsistent. Averaged over 24 yards per touch last year. Around the 4th round.

Devin Street - Pitt - Street is a big receiver who lacks ideal speed. Has been very consistent for Pitt and a play maker at times. Excellent size at 6'4 and solid hands. Looks to be a 4th rounder at the moment, but a big year can push him forward, which I expect this year.
