Here's an update of the previous version of potential waiver wire candidates for both the Eagles' 53 and/or practice squad. I eliminated a lot of names from the previous version that now seem to be off the bubble. That said, a number of players on this list will still make their respective team's 53. Player's with a "PS" are practice squad and have little chance IMO to crack the Eagles' 53. The list is fairly comprehensive in that I tried to tailor it to the Eagles' needs/scheme. I will update the list as cuts are made.

The grass isn't always greener, but in this case it's Augusta fairway-esque. First....a trade. The Eagles' have depth at both RB & TE and should look to acquire help in the secondary. I'd be in favor of sending Chris Polk to Cleveland for S - Johnson Bademosi, but Cleveland won't agree to that with several decent RBs about to hit the waiver wire. Therefore, I'd look to South Beach and trade Clay Harbor to the Dolphins in exchange for S - Kelcie McCray. Player-for-player trades are easier said than Madden, so this may also be unlikely, but I think it works for both teams.
My opinion of the Eagles' overall roster depth is not exactly a positive one. I think they can upgrade positions of depth across the board on defense and WR depth is also in need of an upgrade. I italicized players in my 53 below that I would like the Eagles' to try and replace. The potential addition/replacement is in parentheses. I included some positional flexibility due to the various roster additions.
WR(6): Desean Jackson, Riley Cooper, Jason Avant, Damaris Johnson, Russell Shepard (Chris Harper), (Saints' WR) Assuming they keep special teams ace Courtney Roby...Andy Tanner & Preston Parker are probably both not going to make the Saints' roster and they are definitely both better options than what is currently on the Eagles. They also both play special teams which is essential.
TE(3): Brent Celek, Zach Ertz, James Casey. I'd prefer 4 TEs, but just traded Harbor for a safety and the decent available options are best suited for the practice squad. I wouldn't be opposed to adding a serviceable veteran depending on how the rest of the roster shakes out.
OL(8/9): Jason Peters, Evan Mathis, Jason Kelce, Todd Herremans, Lane Johnson, Allen Barbre, Danny Watkins, Julian Vandervelde (David Molk)...Dennis Kelly either starts on the roster or on the PUP list. If Kelly is healthy, I'd also consider trading Watkins.
DL(7): Isaac Sopoaga, Cedric Thornton, Fletcher Cox, Bennie Logan, Vinnie Curry, Clifton Geathers (Steelers' NT), Damion Square (Clinton McDonald, Josh Boyd, AJ Francis, Tom Johnson...take your pick). With Alameda Ta'amu and Loni Fangupo, Pittsburgh can probably only keep one and the other would look very nice in green. Square could make the practice squad, but should be replaced on the 53 with the amount of options that will be on the market. I would also keep an eye out Christian Ballard from the Vikings...he is away from the team dealing with a personal issue and barring injury, I don't think he'll have a roster spot when he gets back.
ILB(4): DeMeco Ryans, Michael Kendricks, Jake Knott, Emmanuel Acho (I'm not completely sold on either of the back-ups, but I also don't think anything that the Eagles pick-up would be an upgrade at this point.
S(4/5): Patrick Chung, Earl Wolff, Kelcie McCray, Nate Allen, Colt Anderson (Jeromy Miles, Matt Johnson, Matt Daniels, etc) Safety is the hardest part of the list above to predict, because teams keep anywhere from 3-6 on their roster. If the Eagles do add multiple safeties via trade/waiver wire, I will not shed a tear to see Allen or Coleman depart this team.
The 53 above is far from concrete, but as far as overall numbers, I'd prefer 24 offense, 26 defense,3 ST.
RB - Matthew Tucker
WR - Connor Vernon
TE - Demetrius Harris
OT/OG - Nick Becton
DE - Damion Square
ILB - Keith Pough
CB - Marcus Cooper
S - DeShawn Shead
This is obviously wishful thinking on my part, but there is a little eternal optimist in every football fan in August.
