Preseason Game Recap: Philadelphia Eagles lose to New York Jets in preseason finale, 27-20 - BLG, BGN
In a longstanding annual tradition, the Philadelphia Eagles took on the New York Jets in the preseason finale. The starters didn't play, so the Eagles had a chance to evaluate the depth on their roster.

I've got to be... an Achoooooo man: ILB Emmanuel Acho likely secures his spot on the Eagles - JimmyK,
If I had "Macho Man" (or rather "Acho Man") queued up for Emmanuel Acho tonight, it would have played repeatedly. Acho had 11 tackles, a sack, a tackle for loss, a forced fumble, and a hit on the QB. He has also led the Eagles in tackles in 3 of their 4 preseason games.

Chip Kelly Update: More Oregon Trickeration? - Mark Saltveit,
Chip Kelly, the mastermind play caller, kept going back to an Andy Reid-style drop-back pass again and again, like a rock-paper-scissors player calling Rock 20 times in a row. Kelly used Bart Simpson on a play card, to the consternation of too-serious sportswriters everywhere, but in this case Bart is not right: rock does not beat everything. At halftime, the Eagles trailed 17-16 and, even worse for Chip, led in time of possession; only two late drives by backup quarterback Nick Foles pulled out the victory. So the question on every fans’ mind is: Was this strange game plan more Oregon trickeration by Chip, hiding his real plans for the regular season? Or do the Eagles just suck? There is a lot of evidence for each answer.

Decision Time - Tommy Lawlor, Iggles Blitz
The preseason is over. The coaches and personnel staff now have the tough task of choosing the initial 53-man roster. Tonight’s game vs the Jets gave a few answers, but let’s be honest. There are some situations where things just aren’t clear. While guys like Emmanuel Acho and Chris McCoy showed they belong on the roster, other players didn’t jump out enough to settle anything. Do you go with Greg Salas or Russell Shepard? We know the top 7 OL right now, but do you keep Danny Watkins, Michael Bamiro and/or Matt Tobin? Do you like any of them enough to keep them?

Kelly On Watkins: ‘It’s Going To Be A Battle’ - Tim McManus, Birds 24/7
"Danny is competing like the rest of those guys up front. There is always some really good out of Danny, but there is also some mistakes out of Danny," said Chip Kelly when asked how the lineman has progressed this summer. "It’s going to be a battle. When you feel good about your five but then where are we going to be and how many are we going to carry I think is what it’s going to come down to."

NFC East Positional Rankings – Defensive Backs - Steve Shoup, Fanspeak
A secondary can be a defenses worst nightmare or its greatest asset. Having two lockdown cornerbacks can make a porous defensive line look much better than they really are, while having a weak secondary can change the way the entire unit is forced to play. Either way, a secondary needs to do more than just cover, especially in the NFC East. With quarterbacks like Robert Griffin III and Michael Vick running around, there is an increased emphasis on being able to wrap up ball carriers as much as cover the downfield threats. At the same time, pocket passers like Tony Romo and Eli Manning require secondary’s to be able to lock down some of the best receivers in the NFL like Dez Bryant, Pierre Garcon, and DeSean Jackson. Each team placed an emphasis on this position over the offseason and only time will tell us which groups help or hinder their defensive teammates.

Predicting the Eagles' 53-man roster - Jeff McLane, Inqurier
No real surprises here.

Predicting the Eagles' 53-man roster - CSN Philly
Both Geoff Mosher and Reuben Frank seem to think TE Clay Harbor will be traded. Hmm...
