Getting to know the Eagles: LB Adrian Robinson

USA TODAY Sports

Howie Roseman is clearly the best architect in the NFL on player-for-player trades. Veteran running back Felix Jones was clearly not making the Eagles' roster, so Roseman decided to get something for him. The Eagles were able to acquire Temple University alum Adrian Robinson from the Steelers for Jones. The acquistion of Robinson gives the Eagles another body at outside linebacker as the team goes into it's final two preseason games.

Robinson was a defensive end at Temple. He saw time as a true freshman with the Owls after being considered a three-star prospect by Scout.com. In his first year, Robinson started in three of the 12 games he played in and played on special teams. During his sophomore year, he became a full-time starter and led the MAC Conference with 13 sacks as the left defensive end. Robinson also added 46 tackles (14 for loss), three pass breakups and five forced fumbles. Robinson collected first-team All-Mac honors following the season.

The native of Harrisburg, Pennsylvania moved to right defensive end as a junior. During his third campaign, Robinson registered 38 tackles (4.5 for loss) and 3.5 sacks. He was named a team captain and finished his Temple tenure with 52 tackles (13.5 for loss), an interception and a blocked kick in 2011 as a senior. He received All-Mac honors for his performance in his final season.

The 6-foot-1, 250-pounder went undrafted last April and signed with the Steelers following the selection process. He made the Steelers roster and was converted to an outside linebacker. He spent all of his time on special teams during his rookie season, appearing in 12 games.

This clearly the Eagles getting something for a player who wasn't going to make the squad. Robinson doesn't have practice squad availability, so he will need a huge performance in Week 4 of the preseason to make the roster. He is the only former Temple player on the Eagles roster.

Here is a glimpse of Robinson in college against Wyoming in 2011:
