Alright, Philly. I'm all in with the Eagles this year. You guys got yourselves an amazing coach, and since he'll always be an Oregon guy to me, I'm following Chip to the Eagles. The first NFL team I've seriously embraced as a fan. Eagles are my team now. Just signed up with NFL Rewind since we don't always get Eagles games on the west coast. Can't wait for the season to start!
I have a friend who lives in Philly and he already sent my 3 yr old son a Vick jersey. I'm leaning more towards a Chung jersey though, since he was a Duck.
Its funny reading all the media stories leading up to the season about how Chip will struggle to adapt, or defenses will figure him out. Like he never dealt with disguised coverages, blitzes and all sorts of exotic schemes from some of the top defensive coordinators in football. He's seen all that stuff before. Aside from some initial growing pains in his first season as HC at Oregon, Chip's teams were juggernauts.
There's no gimmick behind it either. He is adaptable and pragmatic, not dogmatic. He accounts for everything, not afraid to discard what doesn't work in a given situation, and tailors his scheme to exploit what his players are best at, rather than forcing them to conform to a system ill-suited to their talents. He makes defenses react to him, keeping them perpetually off balance. He is the Sun Tzu of football.
I know, I know. This is just crazy over the top fandom speaking. And maybe it is. It is a fanpost after all. But I have all the confidence in the world that once the team is firing on all cylinders, Chip is going to blow people away. Two seasons from now, not making the conference championship game will be a disappointing season for the Eagles. Get used to winning. :)
