Why we might not suck this year

For the past two years the Eagles have been terrible. Here's why that might change:

The Eagles don't have a franchise quarterback at the moment, but even if Vick stays as quarterback this year, he has shown he can play. Maybe not recently, but the Eagles' offensive line wasn't in the best shape last year. So maybe he can show us that he can play. Foles has also shown some potential, and maybe the offensive genius in Chip Kelly can harness his ability and turn it into something, even if he's not the typical Kelly quarterback. But at the moment, I'd give Vick the nod, knowing Kelly's history.

Running Back:

I don't think we need to worry here. With Bryce Brown and Shady Mccoy, the Eagles have one of the best running back corps in the league.

Wide Recievers:

Desean Jackson can fit perfectly in Kelly's system, playing a Deanthony Thomas type role that was used in Kelly's Oregon offense. Jeremy Maclin has shown that he can be a productive part of the offense when healthy. Jason Avant, Demaris Johnson, and Riley Cooper are decent recievers, and the new additions of Ifeanyi Momah and Arelious Benn might be nothing to laugh about either.

Offensive Line:

This was one of the largest reasons that the Eagles failed miserably last year. However, it was because Evan Mathis was the only starting lineman not to get injured. Now that Jason Peters, Jason Kelce, and Todd Herremans are back and healty, the eagle's offensive line can be pretty strong if they can add another guard, or another tackle and move Herremans back to guard.

Front Seven:

With the new 4-3 under, the eagles may be in a nice position to fix their defense of old. As of Now Isaac Sopoaga would play Nose Tackle, and at end Fletcher Cox and either Antonio Dixon or Vinny Curry would play the other side. If they drafted somebody to play alongside Fletcher Cox at the other 5 tech slot, their D-Line would be okay. Their Linebacking Corps would consist of Trent Cole who could play the "predator" which is the speed rusher in a 4-3 under, Demeco Ryans and Mychal Kendricks would play in the inside and Brandon Graham would play on the other outside. The eagles can have a solid front seven by doing this.

The Eagles' secondary was one of the weakest in the league last year, but they completely revamped it this offseason. As of now, nobody can really tell how Chung, Phillips, Williams, and Fletcher will fit with the Eagles, but if they play well, than the Eagles secondary will be fine.

The Eagles have the talent to be a playoff team, and a coach that was one of the best in college football. If Kelly works out, than the eagles should have no problem making the playoffs.
