Pro Football Talk has released its latest mock draft and it definitely opens up things for discussion, to put it lightly. Much like in their first mock draft that was released last month, Mike Florio decided to go against the ideas of the TV draft analysts. As someone who knows the joys and criticism of the mock draft process (check out my attempt to do a mock with trades) I can appreciate Florio's originality, but the mock does leave you scratching your head if you have followed the draft process closely. For instance, Lane Johnson falls to the Texans at the 27th pick and Eric Fisher drops to the Dolphins at 12, despite the entire Top 12 all having needs at the position. Also, while I have been known to be less enthusiastic about Star Lotulelei's potential and ability than most, him falling to 14 would shock me at this point (with the clean bill of health). He also has Tharold Simon (who CBS ranks as a 4th-5th round pick and NFL ranks as the 16th best CB) going to the Vikings at 25, just two picks after they selected Geno Smith, who slid to 23.
PFT has the Eagles taking Missouri defensive tackle Sheldon Richardson with the 4th overall pick. That's not completely out of the ordinary, but probably against most fans' wishes with Fisher, Johnson, Lotulelei, and Ansah left on the board. Here is the whole mock for your viewing pleasure:
|1||Chiefs||Luke Joeckel||OT||Texas A&M|
|12||Dolphins||Eric Fisher||OT||Central Michigan|
|13||Buccaneers||Tavon Austin||WR||West Virginia|
|17||Steelers||Damontre Moore||DE/OLB||Texas A&M|
|19||Giants||Tyler Eifert||TE||Notre Dame|
|22||Rams (WAS)||Eddie Lacy||RB||Alabama|
|23||Vikings||Geno Smith||QB||West Virginia|
|25||Vikings (SEA)||Tharold Simon||CB||LSU|
So BGNers, what do you think of this mock?
