Philadelphia Eagles to host Sharrif Floyd, Eric Fisher

USA TODAY Sports

With just about a month to go before the 2013 NFL draft, the Eagles are scheduling prospect visits and checking out pro days right and left. We've been tracking these visits in our prospect visit hub, but now we've got a flurry of others to report.

First and most notably is the news that the Eagles will host Sharrif Floyd in Philadelphia on April 5th. Despite the fact that he is a Philadelphia native, he will count as one of their 30 allowed visits. Typically teams are allowed to bring in as many local prospects as they like.

Floyd is seen by many as the best defensive player in the draft and is a near lock to be a first round pick.

The Eagles will also bring in Central Michigan OT Eric Fisher, who like Fisher is a near lock to be a top 5 pick. Fisher was also the subject of our most recent "Pound the Table" scouting report.

In lesser prospect news, the Eagles had a 1 on 1 workout with Syracuse OT Justin Pugh. He'd most likely be a 2nd round target.

The Eagles were at the Fresno State pro day to check out safety Phillip Thomas and will now hold a private workout with him. Thomas ranked at #5 on Mel Kiper's top safeties big board.

The Eagles also made the short trip to check out the Princeton Tigers pro day, almost certainly to check out DE Mike Catapano. The senior led the Ivy League with 12 sacks and was named defensive player of the year. The Eagles also held a private workout with him where they used him as an outside linebacker. Gil Brandt expects him to be draft in the 4th or 5th round.
