Welcome to Philly Arrelious

Arrelious Benn Highlights Mix (via heisBENN)

The Eagles traded for Tampa Bay Buc’s WR Arrelious Benn today. The 6’2" 220lb WR was traded, along with a 2013 7th rounder, in exchange for an Eagles 2013 6th and a conditional pick in 2014.

Despite putting up only 4 receptions on 6 targets last year, the young receiver (only 24), has the size and ability (drafted in the 2nd round by the Bucs in ’10) to be a solid addition to an Eagles offense in need of a larger receiving target. He’s put up 59 catches for 862 yards in three seasons in Tampa. His best year came in 2011 when he racked up 441 yards and 3 TDs on 30 catches.

The Eagles 6th round pick used in the deal was the same one acquired in the Brodrick Bunkley trade. If the conditional pick in 2014 is not triggered, the Eagles will essentially have moved back half a round in exchange for the young wide-out. Low risk move, adding to the Eagles youth pool while not committing very much in terms of draft value or cap room. Another excellent low-risk, medium-reward acquisition made by the Eagles FO in an offseason defined by such moves.
