And the Eagles are at home again and, our two Super Bowls will be Free Agency and the Draft. How will the Eagles solve the QB issues? This list is in no particular order.
1. Keeping Nick Foles
Since there is a lack of a better option, this would be a default #1. If Kelly keeps Foles, he will have to change his offense more than he's already doing so.He is a great fit for throwing the ball, but I don't think so running it on this offense.I am open to keeping Foles or getting another starter so this is an iffy #1 option
2.Trading for Alex Smith
It's a better idea than people give it credit for. Smith can run this offense, you can remember his 28 yard TD run against New Orleans in the playoffs. If he throws for 19-24 TD's, runs for 3-5 TD's, throws 4-7 INT''s, we should win at least 11 games, and that is a legitimate chance with Alex. Remember, having 5-7 fewer turnovers than the average QB is like accounting for 3-4 more TD's a year. Part of the reason the 49ers defense was so good is because they weren't faced in bad field position by turnovers. The most I'd give up though would be a 3rd rounder.
3. Keeping Micheal Vick
I'm not in support of this, but it can still work. Some idiots are going to chastise me for being a Micheal Vick hater, but they should know I was a vehement Micheal Vick supporter for most of this season. Vick can "run" this system, BUT his ineptitude in pre snap reads and ability to to read defenses will harm him. And then there are his major injury concerns, age and finally his big contract.
4. Drafting EJ Manuel
I was anti-EJ for most of the season, but I've changed my stance on him for one reason. Many of his flaws are easily workable, and it's his footwork mainly. A good fundamental coach such as Bill Lazor and Pat Shurmur would help him more than most teams. He fits more in Chip Kelly's scheme than I originally thought, and what impresses me is that he himself admitted that he'd like to play for Chip Kelly, especially since this is pre-draft AND combine.Unless he wows me, I wouldn't take him in the high-second round, I'd rather trade down 8-12 spots with an extra 4th rounder at hand.
5.Getting another QB(Draft,Backup)
I've heard the Eagles are high on Ryan Nassib, and I'm happy about that. There are also other guys such as Dennis Dixon. I'm not sure if we sign a guy like this, but it's out there.
Honestly I don't know what to do here, but time will tell.
