I will go by whos an unrestricted free agent.
I see our biggest needs as Nose tackle, hard hitting Safety and Corner back. Sam LB, return specialist, Celek's spell, big WR, OLine depth, etc comes after these imo.
Targets for nose tackle in free agency seem limited. Nobody screams homerun to me. Id look at the likes of Chargers Abrayo Franklin, Lions Sammie Lee Hill, and 49ers Isaac Sopoago first. Ive seen clamor for guys like Baltimores Kemoeatu, Steelers Hampton, Jaguars Knighton or Raiders Bryant. Not sure about the bunch, especially the first two who have alot of tread on their tires.
Ofcourse, every Eagles fan wants the all around safety in Buffalos Jairus Byrd. There are Tons of other good options in free agency if we dont get him. My top other options would be 49ers Dashon Goldson, Texans Glover Quin, Jets LaRon Landy, ex-Bill George Wilson, Atlantas William Moore, and Detroits Louis Delmas. I would also take a look at Rams Craig Dahl and Patriots Patrick Chung.
There seems to be a couple good options at corner on the market. Miamis Sean Smith, Patriots Aqib Talib, Jaguars Derek Cox, and Steelers Keenan Lewis are all very solid starters and there are some interesting 2nd tier guys like Jaguars Rashean Mathis, Chargers Quentin Jammer, Bucs E.J. Biggers, Washingtons Cedric Griffin and Green Bays Sam Shields.
If I had to take one guy from each of these positions and put them on the Eagles with people who are under contract, this is who it would be:
Abrayo Franklin as he may have the most talent of this nose tackle class.
Dashon Goldson would be the best fit right now. Ideally Id take Byrd as well, but he would take Allens job and in my hypothetical I can have only one. Plus Goldson has become a pretty well rounded player and packs ALOT of pop which we need all over our D.
I believe Id go with Sean Smith here as I love his size with his athleticism. Think he came into his own last year and could get better.
What does BGN think?
