This defensive line class is very deep this year. Some analyst have us taking a OT or Defensive lineman. I think we are getting a D-lineman. The top two lineman i only want are Star Lotulelei or Sharrif Floyd. I'm going to compare the two to see who are the best.
Star Lotulelei:
Pros: He's a powerful Tackle who's versatile to fit any defensive scheme. Star is quick off the snap and has quick feet and hands that he uses on Guards. He has enough speed for his size to follow plays across the field. Can recognize screens and tracks them down to get the tackle.
Cons: Not flexible enough to make open field tackles and ball carriers can get away from him very easily because of that. Doesn't always keep his eyes in the backfield to find the ball and lacks violent hands sometime.
NFL.com Player Comparison: Haloti Ngata
Sharrif Floyd:
Pros: Athletic to play any scheme like Star with good strength. Quick off the snap, has a good swim move also gets a great push against his man. Can stand up outside the Tackle and shows quickness to get the pass rusher. He's a pretty good sideline to sideline player for his size. Has Violent hands, keeps eyes in the backfield and sheds off blockers very easily. Splits double team in pass protection and has good change of direction ability.
Cons: He has high pad level at times and that can cause him trouble sometimes. Must prove that he has stamina to get some good playing time in the NFL. Turns his body sometimes against double teams and that will get him getting pushed back.
NFL.com Player Comparison: Muhammad Wilkerson
Final Verdict:
Sharrif Floyd because he's just so much more versatile and flexible for this 4-3 Under we are going to be running next year. Also Todd Mcshay has him as most improved player in college and now has him as the 7th rank prospect in this draft.
Who will you choose???
