Eagles and Lions make history by not converting any field goal or extra point attempts

No kicks for you!!!

The Eagles made history in a few ways on Sunday. LeSean McCoy set a new team record with 217 rushing yards, while the team tied another franchise mark with 28 points in the fourth quarter. Along with those new records, the Eagles and Lions teamed up for another astonishing accomplishment. The matchup between Philadelphia and Detroit on Sunday was the first game in 56 years to not feature a successful field goal or extra point attempt.

The snowy conditions and windy weather made kicking even a 20-yard field goal undesirable. For the Eagles, Alex Henery was only used on kickoffs, while the Lions kicker, David Akers, was held to one blocked extra point attempt. Akers' kick was likely impacted by the wind, but rookie nose tackle Bennie Logan was able to swat the ball as it headed towards the uprights. The lack of field goals forced several two-point conversion attempts and kept the Lions below 21 points due to a pair failed efforts.

On the same day the Eagles and Lions scored none of their points on kicks, Broncos kicker Matt Prater set the record for the longest field goal in NFL history when he booted a 64-yard attempt against the Titans in a Denver win.
