Eagles Injury Update: Earl Wolff Optimistic He Will Play Against the Saints

Kim Klement-USA TODAY Sports

The most significant injury the Eagles are dealing with heading into the playoffs is the same one that has been an issue for the past couple of weeks. Rookie safety Earl Wolff sat out of Sunday's Eagles-Cowboys regular season finale with a knee injury. Wolff practiced as a full participant last week but noted his knee felt "really sore".

Wolff originally suffered this injury in Week 10 against the Packers. He sat out until the Bears game in Week 16 but only played 4 snaps before leaving the game again. Wolff did not practice on Tuesday, but spoke to the media afterwards and said he will "probably" play against the Saints.

It remains to be seen how healthy Wolff will be play if he plays, but there's no question he's a valuable addition when healthy. Wolff's return to the starting lineup means fan-favorite Patrick Chung would be relegated to less time on the field.

Two other Eagles players missed Tuesday's practice. Depth safety and special teams contributor Colt Anderson sat out with a knee injury that's held him out of two straight games now. Bacup center Julian Vandervelde had a back injury flare up when he was "attacked by ninjas" last week. He sat out of the Eagles-Cowboys game as well.

Other than these three injuries, the Eagles seem to be relatively healthy yet again heading into their next match-up. The Eagles take on the Saints at home in the first round of the playoffs on Saturday night at 8:10 PM EST.
