Eagles Injury Update: Earl Wolff's Playing Chances Are "Slim"

Kim Klement-USA TODAY Sports

A quick injury update from the Eagles Tuesday practice.

The Philadelphia Eagles are dealing with a few injury issues as the prepare to take on the Detroit Lions this week.

The Eagles entered the Cardinals game off the bye with a healthy roster. The only player who wasn't able to play due to injury was rookie safety Earl Wolff (knee). Wolff is sorely needed back with Patrick Chung struggling at safety, but he isn't expected back any time soon. According to reports, Wolff said he's feeling better but the best-case scenario is returning by the Minnesota Vikings game, which is on December 15th. He called his chances of playing this week "slim".

A few other injuries occurred during the game itself. Special teams players and backup linebacker Najee Goode left Sunday's game with a hamstring injury and did not return. Goode played well enough in relief of Mychal Kendricks the two previous weeks. Goode was at Tuesday's light practice but did not participate.

Another special teams/depth player that left the game was wide receiver Jeff Maehl. He suffered a head injury. Maehl was not seen at Tuesday's light practice. These two injuries could negatively affect the Eagles special teams coverage unit. Or maybe not with the way Donnie "Football" Jones has been punting the ball.

More injury information will be released this week as we see the official injury updates from Eagles practice, but it's good to see no major injuries from the start.
