Nick Foles has been a revelation since the Dallas game and is a big part of why the Eagles are in prime position to win the NFC East. His numbers have been off the charts and even with throwing his first 2 interceptions of the season in the last few weeks, he ranks 3rd in Football Outsiders QB DVOA (Defensive-adjusted Value Over Average).
So is this version of Nick Foles for real? Where did the guy that struggled in that first Cowboys game go? I took a look at one of his recent performance (Week 11 vs. Washington) to find out. During this game, admittedly against a weak defense, I counted 4 strengths and only 1 weakness for the young QB. A summary:
- Ability to read both sides of the field
- Stays away from interceptions
- Good mobility in and out of the pocket
- Good footwork inside the pocket
- Better anticipation of defenses, blitz schemes, etc.
