First and foremost, I wanted to simply remind the world that I'm about as excited as any real Eagles' fan after seeing Nick Foles' performance yesterday!
Second, I may sound childish, but I truly think we can still win the NFC East! It would be nice to see a playoff game that involves a performance like what we saw yesterday? What a pick-me-up, right?
Now, on to the main point: the reason I am most impressed by the game yesterday has nothing to do with the performance. Nick has not let it get to his head, and that is by far his most impressive attribute, if you ask me. He may have slip-ups in the future, and at the same time he may have amazing games from here on out. We don't truly know what he's capable of, but the amazing thing is that he remains humble. Every Tebowite is quick to point out that Tebow is a class act and the perfect gentleman, but to me, he seemed to always try to push the idea that he was a great person and was very public about everything. His need to kneel after touchdown almost became a sort of show, and I think that detracted from the respect I had for him. Nick, on the other hand, has been as quiet as the worst quarterback in the league. It's not that he lacks "moxie," as some say, but I think he just knows that it won't help to be egotistical. Prepare the best that you can, and let your play do the talking. I think this is what marks the difference between an immature, yet talented quarterback who doesn't accomplish much, and one that is mature, if average, and can achieve greatness. I'm excited to see how this pans out with the Eagles!
This leads me to question, would we really want Johnny Manziel here? Someone who seems to be concerned with partying more than he is about leading the team? I could be wrong, so please feel free to share and change my mind, but that is just where I stand right now.
This all leads to the ultimate question: what do you think is the most important QB characteristic/attribute to have?
