Eagles vs. Cardinals, Week 13: Game time, TV schedule, online streaming, channel, and more

Jennifer Stewart-US PRESSWIRE

Battle of the Birds 2013

The Eagles are coming off a bye week and are currently at 6-5. Philadelphia is 0.5 game behind the Cowboys for the NFC East division lead and are poised to make a run at the playoffs. Quarterback Nick Foles has been named the starter moving forward and with that announcement out of the way, the team can now just focus on winning. The Cardinals will be in town on Sunday in what looks like a pretty evenly-matched contest.

The Cardinals have the second-best rushing defense in the league and have one of the best cornerbacks in the league in Patrick Peterson. Along with Peterson, they have a nasty front seven that will likely give Foles and LeSean McCoy fits. The offense has been solid lately with Carson Palmer along with Larry Fitzgerald and Michael Floyd. The Cardinals have a terrible offensive line and their running game leaves a lot to be desired.

The key for this matchup is to move the ball around on offense and continue the solid play on defense. The Cardinals wide receivers matchup very well against the Eagles cornerbacks, just as the Philadelphia tight ends and wide receivers have solid standing against the likes of linebackers and defensive backs. This game will come down to which offense out-performs the opposing defense. It is as simple as that.

History Lesson

The Cardinals lead the all-time series against the Eagles, 54-57-5. The Eagles faced the Cardinals in the 2009 NFC Championship game and lost in Arizona. It was last game that Tra Thomas, Brian Dawkins and Jon Runyan ever played as Eagles.

The Eagles are 5-5 in the last 10 meetings against the Cardinals.

Fun Facts

  • Nick Foles' 152.8 passer rating over the last three games are the most since 1960 and the second best all-time in the NFL.
  • LeSean McCoy is one of only four Eagles running backs to have three 1,000-yard rushing seasons. The others are Duce Staley, Wilbert Montgomery and Ricky Watters.
  • Cardinals defensive coordinator Todd Bowles and linebackers coach Mike Caldwell filled those same positions last season for the Eagles. Caldwell was with the Eagles from 2008-2012 as a coach and was a player for the Eagles from 1998-2001.
  • Linebacker Emmanuel Acho's brother Sam Acho plays for the Cardinals but is currently on injured reserve.
  • Tight end Brent Celek is one catch away from 300 career receptions.

  • Wide receiver DeSean Jackson is 15 yards away from his third 1,000-yard receiving season. Only Harold Carmichael and Mike Quick have reached that milestone. If Jackson gets to his third 1,000-yard year, he will tie the franchise record with Quick and Carmichael.

  • Wide receiver Riley Cooper's 19.1 yards per catch are good for second best in the league.
  • The Eagles are first in the league in rushing yards per game, plays of 20 yards or more and yards per play. Philadelphia is second in net passing yards per attempt and rushing yards per attempt.
