Eagles vs. Cardinals Fantasy Football Guide

John Geliebter-USA TODAY Sports

Josh Collacchi examines this week's Eagles game against the Cardinals, and the fantasy implications involved.

The Eagles sit at 6-5 and are tied with the Dallas Cowboys for the division lead. With Nick Foles being named the starter (officially) for the rest of the season, we have a better idea for how the offense is going to work. Riley Cooper will continue to be a good WR3 option, DeSean Jackson is back as a must start in fantasy football, and LeSean McCoy is one of the top backs in the NFL. Nick Foles is a borderline QB1 for the rest of the season, as the matchups will prove in the coming weeks.

Here is a look at this week's fantasy football guide for the Eagles-Cardinals game.

Nick Foles - Low end QB1

Carson Palmer - QB2

Both Foles and Palmer have come into each's own lately, and have been very good fantasy options. The issue this week is the fact that both defenses are actually very good of late. The Cardinals secondary is very talented, and the pass rush is an underrated bunch. The Eagles have allowed less than 21 points for the last six games, which ranks them best in the NFL as far as a streak goes. Foles should be starting, and Palmer is a serviceable number two this week, but do not expect 400 yards from either.

LeSean McCoy – RB1

Andre Ellington – RB3

LeSean McCoy is a must start in every format every week. Andre Ellington should be a top running back option, but Bruce Arians has a tremendous loyalty for Rashard Mendenhall that prevents Ellington from getting the bulk of the carries. Ellington is still a decent FLEX option, but until he gets the lion's share of the carries, neither he or Mendenhall is worth starting in a running back slot.

DeSean Jackson – WR1

Larry Fitzgerald – WR1

Both Jackson and Fitzgerald are must starts this week, but for different reasons. Jackson has become a top tier fantasy wide receiver once again, and should not be sat, despite a tough matchup. Larry Fitzgerald will go against Cary Williams, who has been terrible this season. Look for the former Pittsburgh star to continue to haunt the Eagles.

Riley Cooper – WR2

Michael Floyd– WR2

Riley Cooper has been good when Nick Foles is under center, and with Patrick Peterson on the other side of the field, Cooper should get his share of targets. Michael Floyd is reaching his potential under Bruce Arians' vertical attack, and should be started in most formats going forward. He looks like a future star.

Brent Celek – TE3

Rob Housler – TE3

Brent Celek will see a few targets, but Karlos Dansby has been great in coverage this season, and will severely limit Celek's opportunities. Rob Housler is a physical specimen at the tight end position, but the narrative of the Eagles and the tight end has been proven wrong. Our birds have been very good to this point holding tight ends to minimal fantasy points.

Alex Henery – K2

Jay Feely – K2

Should this matchup have occurred in Week 1, both of these kickers would have been top options, but with the two defenses playing well, the kickers could be the fantasy victims in this case. Chances are you only have one kicker on your roster, but finding one who kicks in good weather is a must at this time of year.

Eagles Defense/Special Teams – DST1

Cardinals Defense/Special Teams – DST2

If someone were to have told me the Eagles defense was going to be a top fantasy option by week 13, I would have called them crazy. But the joke is on me, the Eagles defense has been very good of late, sacks and turnovers have been plentiful, and against the Cardinals' passing attack, more sacks and turnovers could be forced this week. The Cardinals have one of the best defenses in the NFL, but with the Eagles offense's torrid pace, the Cardinals defense is a buyer beware choice this week.
