Hi folks. My name is Rob, I'm a Cardinals fan who lives in Allentown. Wanted to set up a fanpost to ask questions about the Cardinals, get some discussion back and forth. I'll post a link to it over at ROTB and hopefully we can get a nice discussion going. Some quick hits about the Cardinals:
I was one of the few Cardinals fans who expected a terrible season (I predicted 5 wins tops). Many Cardinals fans going in to the season thought they would win 7-10 games. As of now, they are full blown playoff contenders, but still have an uphill battle.
The Cardinals' Offense struggled to pick up Arians' scheme, and has only really started looking competent in the last few games. Palmer has his moments where he looks like the Palmer of 2008. Andre Ellington is fast becoming a major play maker, and will continue to get 15 or so touches a game. He's averaging over 6 ypc, and is a threat to take any touch to the house. Michael Floyd is playing very well and taking advantage of Fitzy being double and triple teamed nearly every play. The OL is looking better, but is still not very good. BA has made some protection adjustments lately and that seems to be helping.
On defense, the Cardinals are playing even better than last year. They have play-makers at every level, with an above average DL, possibly the best ILB duo in the NFL, John Abraham playing like he's 25 again, and PP21 and the Honey Badger playing lights out in the secondary. They put a ton of pressure on opposing QBs, and are consistently making big plays and getting turnovers. Some advanced metrics have them as the best D in the NFL (Football outsiders DVOA). Bowles has been calling very aggressive games, and getting very impressive results.
Big playoff implications for both teams this week, hoping for a good game, with no injuries.
