There are several times in life when you have to make tough decisions. This Sunday, one of those decisions will play into your rooting interest for a very important, non-Eagles matchup. The Cowboys (5-5) will face the Giants (4-6) in the Meadowlands in Week 12 and the results will likely have a major impact on the Eagles.
The Cowboys are the team that is nipping at the Eagles heels in the division. At 6-5, the Eagles are only a half-game ahead of Dallas and with a Cowboys victory against the Giants, would technically take a backseat due to a tie-breaker. The Cowboys beat the Eagles in Week 7 in a game that could be considered the only MAJOR question mark regarding Philadelphia quarterback Nick Foles. The Cowboys in a tie with the Eagles puts pressure on Chip Kelly and Co. It is not ideal, but would give the Eagles only one team to battle with for the NFC East title. The Eagles will close the regular season against the Cowboys in Dallas.
For the Giants, a win would essentially vault them into the playoff and divisional race, despite going 0-6 to start the season. A win would be the Giants fifth in a row and basically put them back in the media's good graces. All of that would greatly annoy Eagles fans. However, a win by the Giants would allow the Eagles create their own destiny. The New York win would create a 5-6 record for them and the Cowboys, and allow both to compete for the division.
When it comes down to rooting interest, an Eagles fan likely has to decide between pride (Giants loss) and results (Cowboys loss). If you are all about making the playoffs, rooting for the Giants may be your best bet. However, if you are all about creating just one enemy to deal with down the stretch, then the Cowboys are the ticket.
The Giants will host the Cowboys on Sunday at 4:25 p.m. ET on FOX.
Who will you root for this Sunday? Does it really matter who wins the Week 12 contest?
