Chip Kelly stole and improved the 'QB Eagles' run play from Tecmo Super Bowl - JimmyK, Philly.com
If you've ever used the Eagles in the old Nintendo video game "Tecmo Super Bowl," there's a good chance you have seen the following play.
The Very Odd Year - Tommy Lawlor, Iggles Blitz
2013 is shaping up to be the strangest season I can remember. The Falcons, the #1 seed in the NFC last year, are 1-4. The Giants are 0-5. Just 6 weeks ago we knew that the Raiders, Jets and Titans would be 3 of the worst teams in the NFL. There was simply no question about it. Now the Raiders are 2-3 and QB Terrelle Pryor has given them some sense of hope. The Jets are 3-2 and playing Rex Ryan football. Geno Smith is erratic, but has looked very good at times. The Titans have a very good defense. Gregg Williams is the best hire of the offseason.
For Foles, Preparation Remains The Same - Danta Klaus, PE.com
The identity of the Eagles' starting quarterback on Sunday afternoon is yet to be determined. Though Michael Vick was limited participant in practice on Tuesday afternoon and says the health of his hamstring is improving, Nick Foles took the crucial first-team reps during team drills – two days after he led the team to victory in Vick's absence against the New York Giants.
All-22: Why the Run Game Struggled - Sheil Kapadia, Birds 24/7
Through four games, Jason Kelce had established himself as one of the Eagles’ most reliable offensive linemen. He showed no ill effects from the knee injury that sidelined him for the final 14 weeks of 2012. He did a good job of setting protections, held his own against interior pass-rushers and excelled in the run game, often showing off his athleticism at the second and third levels. So it might come as a bit of a surprise to learn that Kelce’s play was the biggest factor in the run-game struggles Sunday vs. the Giants.
Remember This Guy: Eagles WR Chris T. Jones - Dave Rueter, The700Level
Chris T. Jones wasn’t a bust in the Freddie Mitchell sense. He was a former 3rd round pick, a guy who, for a one season, seemed like a solid complement to Irving Fryar. Before Fryar "retired," got a Harley from the Eagles front office, and rode off to Washington, anyway. After a quiet rookie year, Jones hauled in 70 grabs for over 850 yards. The Ty Detmer/T. Jones combo was more lethal than La Femme Nikita, which can be seen next, after Monday Night Raw … only on USA. It was an impressive sophomore campaign for the No. 2 receiver, as Chris T. played the Calvin Williams to Fryar’s Fred Barnett. (The Birds had a nice regular season, but sputtered at San Francisco in the playoffs).
DeSean Jackson: Revis can’t 'run with me' - Gonzo, CSN Philly
Tampa Bay’s Darrelle Revis has long been regarded as one of the premiere cornerbacks in the NFL. His nickname is Revis Island for a reason. But while he’s made a career out of shutting down opposing receivers, DeSean Jackson doesn’t believe anyone, even Revis, can cover him.
Foles shows a knack for timing in passing game - Jeff McLane, Inquirer
Nick Foles' two touchdown passes against the New York Giants had things in common - they came in the fourth quarter and after Eagles interceptions. But the most significant similarity may have been the timing. Foles threw both passes - a 25-yard strike to Brent Celek and a 5-yard fade to DeSean Jackson - before his receivers were open. The pass to Jackson was thrown before he made his break.
Week 6 NFL Power Rankings – 3 Undefeated Teams Remain - FanSpeak
17. Philadelphia Eagles (Last Week #20):
Big divisional win for the Eagles as they beat up the lowly Giants. In the next 4 games, the Eagles play the Bucs, Giants again and Raiders, which is obviously pretty favorable.
