The Eagles reportedly had a deal done to acquire Tony Gonzalez 5 years ago - JimmyK, Philly.com
During the 2008 season, the one in which the Eagles eventually played the Cardinals in the NFC Championship Game, the Eagles reportedly had a deal done with the Kansas City Chiefs to acquire Tony Gonzalez for a 3rd round pick and a player. This was revealed by Jay Glazer on Mike Francesa’s radio show on WFAN.

Evaluating the Eagles - Tommy Lawlor, Iggles Blitz
One of the hardest things to do is evaluate your football team. That’s true whether you’re a fan, the media or even the team itself. You don’t want to overrate your own players. That can lead to disaster. You also don’t want to underrate your talent. That can lead you to waste resources instead of trusting your current players. As we’ve talked about, it can be really hard to figure out what a player really is. You have to focus on his specific skills and then figure out how much circumstances hurt/help him. You also have to ask if he’s going to get better or worse. You also need to ask if the guy is on a roll or is this sustainable success.

Fan-Demonium: The Giant Rematch - Tommy Lawlor, Iggles Blitz
The rematch is an interesting test for Kelly. This is the first time an NFL team has gotten a second look at his offense. Some of Kelly's critics think teams will be able to shut down his offense as they get used to it. You can bet Kelly is excited for this challenge. While the Giants have played his offense, the counter to that is true as well. Kelly has faced the Giants defense and will make adjustments of his own. Kelly did a great job of making adjustments while at Oregon so it should be interesting to see what he does this Sunday. You can bet he'll have a good counter-move to handle the Giants' stunts that worked so well in the first game.

Hoge: Eagles Offense Most Vanilla In NFL - Sheil Kapadia, Birds 24/7
"In college, the bottom line is my athlete is better than your athlete. I’m gonna win a high percentage of the time. In the National Football League, it’s about matchups. You have to do something each and every week to put your best guys in the best matchups you can create. And I will tell you this, every week when I plug in the Eagles’ offense, it’s the most vanilla. They start out with the bubble screen, they have the three wide receivers on one side, the option. But I think the thing that’s probably most disturbing is it’s starting to take its toll and you’re starting to see the effects of a college system being applied to the National Football League."

Even without a sack, Cole still making an impact - Geoff Mosher, CSN Philly
"Why sit there and be miserable when you have to do it regardless as a fact? So I keep moving forward, never look in the past. I’m not gonna sit there and be miserable. I told you all in the beginning that I’m going to do whatever I’ve got to do to make this work. I ain’t gonna sit back and be miserable, because I’m here to play ball."

Scouting the Eagles and the Giants - Zach Berman, Inquirer
The Eagles have lost nine consecutive home games, so there is not much of a home-field advantage. The Giants are trying to generate momentum, although a loss could end any slim hope of rebounding this season and might prompt them to make a trade at this week's deadline.

The Cowboys' practice of bad drafts and worse contracts is leading them down a path to salary-cap catastrophe
