Philadelphia Eagles Week 6 PFF Grades: Offensive Line Plays Well

Steve Mitchell-USA TODAY Sports

Who were the best/worst graded Eagles players against the Buccaneers?

Pro Football Focus is a site that grades NFL player performances. Let's take a look at what they had to say about the performances in Philadelphia's 31-20 victory over the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

PFF offers explanation on their grading system on their website. Read more about that here.

OFFENSE

Best

Evan Mathis +3.8
Jason Kelce +3.7
Brent Celek +3.4
Riley Cooper +2.2
Lane Johnson +1.4
Todd Herremans +1.3
DeSean Jackson +1.0

Worst

Jason Peters -1.0

Analysis: Surprise, surprise. The Eagles offense played well and it's reflected in PFF's grades. Four fifths of the offensive line played really well. The only issues were the pass blocking of Lane Johnson (1 QB hit, 3 QB hurries) and Todd Herremans (2 QB hit, 1 QB hurry). On the plus side, they were graded positively as run blockers.

Brent Celek received a positive grade due to his run blocking. Otherwise, he wasn't anything too special. Riley Cooper had a big day with 120 yards on 4 catches and 1 TD. Surprisingly enough he was an efficient target: 4 catches on 5 targets. DeSean finished with 6 catches on 6 targets for 64 yards and 2 TD.

Peters was given a negative run blocking grade and was just OK in pass protection.

DEFENSE

Best

Fletcher Cox +5.1
Cedric Thornton +4.0
Bradley Fletcher +2.4
Nate Allen +2.3
Brandon Boykin +2.2
Earl Wolff +1.0

Worst

DeMeco Ryans -2.8

Analysis: Fletcher Cox was a beast, especially as a pass rusher: 2 QB hits, 5 QB hurries. On the other side of the line, Cedric Thornton continued to be a very good run defender. Bradley Fletcher was targeted 6 times and only allowed 2 receptions for 34 yards. He also had 1 interception and 2 passes defensed. Nate Allen had his best game of the year with 6 tackles (0 missed), 2 assists, 2 stops. Boykin made 4 tackles (0 missed) and 2 stops and only allowed 35 yards in coverage. Wolff struggled in his first two starts but didn't play as terrible against the Bucs.

DeMeco received the worst grade despite a mixed performance. He finished with a positive run defense grade: 12 tackles (1 missed), 1 assist, and 6 stops. In coverage, Ryans was responsible for 9 receptions on 10 targets for 89 yards and 1 TD.
