Hey, fellow diehard football fans.
First and foremost, allow me to introduce myself. I'm a longtime member and now a contributor at Arrowhead Pride, as well as one of the most dedicated Chiefs fans you'll ever meet (yes, I know. I'm an idiot and apparently love the abuse of cheering for a joke of a franchise). Several of you I've talked to over at AP, as some were kind enough to discuss Reid with us following his arrival in KC. I'm hoping to get a little feedback again, if you don't mind.
Before all that, congratulations on landing Kelly. Whatever it is your owner did to make it happen, kudos. I think he's an innovative mind who will almost certainly find success with you guys.
Now, onto the point of my visit at your fine site... Nick Foles. I was a fan of his coming out last year and was hoping we'd take a 3rd round flyer on him. As you know, this didn't happen and you snagged him up.
I write a weekly column over at AP, and I've been toying with the idea of making my next column a "what if" scenario regarding the Chiefs offseason and draft. A "what if" that catches my interest is the idea of Reid reaching out to Kelly in a trade for Foles.
I know virtually nothing about how Foles did for you guys last year, aside from the general impression that he wasn't terrible. I can look at his overall stats and game logs, but as you all well doubt know this tells less than half the story with QBs, especially young QBs. So I'd like to know several things...
1) Do you envision Foles as potentially on the trading block due to the arrival of a new HC (I know Kelly has said he likes Foles. Precedent tells us that most offensive-minded coaches like "their" guy, though)? And in your mind, with the current situation, what would it take to get Foles out of Philly?
2) Do you see Foles as a potential franchise QB?
3) Could you perhaps give me some details on his strengths/weaknesses based on his play last year for your beloved franchise?
If I can get some sound information from any of you, it would really help me throw that column together. Any help is very much appreciated, and best of luck to you guys this year and in the future (unless you're playing the Chiefs, of course).
